WVAL’s Arts Fest this weekend

Any organization that plans events in Wimberley knows that the end of April and early May is prime time to have an event. The weather is no longer cold and the days can be one of those days that are dreamt of with spring’s sun and mild temperatures, the 100 plus degrees are coming are on their way but not here yet.

The eleventh Arts Fest is one of those events that is fun for all ages. It is not only art to view, but a classic car show by the 12 Kings of Wimberley Car Club on Saturday, art and artists from around the country, music, food, adult beverages with the tents set up at beautiful Water’s Point as the venue.

“Something new at this year’s festival is a hands-on, interactive painting party in which everyone is invited to participate. Anyone who wants to get involved in raising money for the Wimberley Valley Art League scholarship fund is invited try their hand at abstract painting. The money we raise will benefit a high school art student from Wimberley. The finished painting will also be auctioned to raise additional funds,” Jan Fitzhugh said, one of the WVAL’s chairs for the event.

What started out as a small event grew and grew until the Water’s Edge venue was needed for all the visitors that now attend the Fest. With artists from around the country, visitors can find their taste in the art and artisans

“As always, the line-up of fabulous music throughout the festival is sure to please every discriminating ear,” Fitzhugh said. Come on out and enjoy the art, cars, music food and have a great time.

The fun starts at 10 a.m. Saturday April 27 and runs to 6 p.m., on Sunday April 28 the exhibition runs from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
