Woodcreek prioritizes road fixes

The Woodcreek City Council prioritized six roads for potential repair during the last council meeting.

The city will go out for bid to repair the roads and place a new chip seal coat on top of Wildwood, Brookside, Jack Miller and Brookmeadow, in that order. Bids will also be requested for patching on areas of Champions Circle and Augusta Drive.

The bids will be for individual roads and the city plans to fix as many as possible before the funds allocated for road repair in the budget are exhausted this year. The aim is for construction to begin in March or April.

The council also discussed getting in touch with Wimberley ISD to make sure the city has a voice during the planning, construction and development of the new school at the corner of Winters Mill Parkway and Ranch Road 12.

“They are talking about putting an EMS/Fire Station there, and I’ve had several citizens come to me and say that is a terrible idea,” Councilmember Cyndi Jackson said. She also highlighted some goals like saving a group of large trees on the property.

‘I think we should commit that the development team begin a dialog with the school district,” Councilmember Aurora LeBrun said. “Our authority over the ETJ (where the school will be located) is not a broad as in the city limits and they have expressed an interest in working with the city of Woodcreek. I think we should.”

City Administrator Brenton Lewis said that the city has been in discussions with WISD for most of the year. Mayor Bill Scheel said that there have been some discussions of the school requesting annexation into the city of Woodcreek, but that the talks were preliminary. Discussion on a playscape at Augusta Park were postponed until the Parks Board can finish a complete parks master plan.
