Wollam appointed to city council seat

Local attorney Eric Wollam was appointed to fill the vacant seat on the Wimberley City Council.

Wollam was appointed with a 3-0 vote. Allison Davis was absent from the meeting at the time of the vote.

Wollam has lived in Wimberley for almost 10 years with his children graduating from Wimberley High School. He is a board certified trail lawyer that specializes in personal injury ligation.

Overall, Wollam said that he is here to serve “the entire Wimberley Valley, in particular the city of Wimberley,” and not any local group or political party. He does have history in the wastewater issue, though, as he offered his services pro bono to “people who were litigating the issues surrounding the wastewater options” with the city of Wimberley.

While other lawyers represented the Blanco River Cypress Creek Water Association in litigation with the city of Wimberley, Wollam did help people involved in the process. He clarified his position on the wastewater treatment plant.

“The history of my involvement on this issue, when I have represented people, speaks pretty clearly that I am anti-discharge and that the treatment that could be offered through Aqua Texas is an option that allows us not to discharge into our water ways,” Wollam said. “It allows us to get that treatment done affordably.”

Before accepting the appointment, Wollam said that he contacted the State Bar’s ethics helpline to confirm that his involvement with the previous litigation did not cause a conflict of interest.

“I was told what I expected, which is clearly there is no conflict of interest,” Wollam said. “That litigation is concluded. There is no conflict of interest.”

Wollam said that he is not yet sure if he will run for election in May.
