Wimberley Valley Arts and Cultural Alliance announces two new events

There’s lots going on at the Wimberley Valley Arts and Cultural Alliance (WVACA), the organization that promotes all the arts in our Valley. WVACA sponsors the Bootiful Boots you see around town, brings you great events like Wimberley Alive and Wings Over Wimberley, hosts monthly member mixers, and recently launched the Wimberley Area Writers.

We’re delighted to announce two very special events coming early in 2020, both to be held at the Opera House at 7A Ranch in Wimberley. Put these on your calendar now because space is limited, and tickets will sell out fast!

The Wimberley

Film Fest

First, the popular Wimberley Film Fest, in its 6th year and now jointly sponsored by WVACA and the Wimberley Village Library, will be held on January 18, 2020, 6 - 8:30 pm. Wimberley’s annual film festival has attracted over 2000 entries to be juried. Films are required to be a maximum of 7 minutes in length and either be created by Texans, be about Texas, or be shot in Texas. During the ‘Red Carpet’ evening event, the Oscars come to Wimberley as audience members enjoy top picks from movie professionals and then vote on the People’s Choice Award. Prosecco and popcorn will be served, and all proceeds benefit the Wimberley Village Library.

The Storytelling Fest in

Beautiful Wimberley

New in 2020, WVACA is excited to launch our first-ever Storytelling Fest on 02-22-2020. The daylong event will feature a wide variety of talented presenters sharing 6- to 8-minute tales designed to provoke, inspire, entertain and amuse the audience. Award-winning raconteurs, several of whom have appeared on NPR’s, The Moth, will perform alongside revered indigenous elders and respected local chroniclers who have great stories to tell.
