Wimberley Market Day returns on March 6

With mayoral approval once again given to the Wimberley Lions Club to hold their popular monthly event, Saturday, March 6, will kick off the 2021 Market Day season. The same safety measures, masks and distancing, which were observed at Lions Field in the latter part of last year, will be observed in all future events until such parameters are officially rescinded. Beer, wine, and limited food concessions will be open. Lion President, Bobby Burris, said, “It fills us with such ‘pride’ to be able, once again, to host these markets. Despite last year with all of its challenges and difficulties, the no-quit spirit of Wimberley and our Lions Club will strive to continue this age-old tradition of hosting Market Days at Lions Field.”

The mascot for Lions Clubs all over the world, obviously a lion, is often used as a metaphor for strength and courage, and the Wimberley chapter collectively takes those traits to heart. Burris said, “This is symbolized by the two lion statues adorning our main entrance to Lions field. Those have come to represent the strength and resilience of our entire club and community. I know we still have a ways to go, but we know that each trial we face will be conquered as we work together. The synergy that is in the air at Market Days has, at its heart, the basic building block of neighbor interacting with neighbor. This is the ‘community spirit,’ borne in our town, and on full display at each and every Market Day, which is why people from all over our state are drawn to Wimberley year after year. We are happy to continue this tradition in the interim, and long for better days ahead. We thank you all for your continued sup

port of this market which is very much a part of Wimberley, our town we love so much.”

Volunteers from the community are definitely needed to make each Wimberley Market Day successful. Anyone interested in volunteering should con tact the Volunteer Coordinator, Lion Terry Wicke, at [email protected].

Wimberley Market Day is held on the First Saturday of each month, rain or shine. March’s shopping hours are from 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Lions Field is located off FM 2325, about a mile from the Wimberley Square. The $5.00 donation accepted at the Lions Club’s parking lots helps to fund the various grants and scholarships distributed by the Wimberley Lions Club.
