Wimberley honors veterans

Wimberley students packed Texan Gym Thursday morning to honor Veterans as part of Wimberley ISD’s Veterans Day celebration.

The celebration included the presentation of the National and State colors, the Danforth Jr. High and Wimberley High School choirs singing the national anthem, and the Jacob Well Elementary students singing God Bless America via zoom.

The Wimberley High School band played the US Military Medley, which honored the veterans of the US Army, Navy, Air Force, and Marines. VFW Post 6441 Commander John Thompson delivered a speech to the Wimberley students, which included honoring Miss Mary Katherine Riddle, a United States Marine veteran who turned 100 years young last month.

After concluding the ceremony with the playing of TAPS, the students were dismissed while the Veterans enjoyed the post ceremony snacks.
