Wimberley High School STEAM Fair is always a discovery

On Saturday, the future once again was on display at the WHS campus at the annual STEAM Fair. For the fifth year, the WHS campus has become a showplace of the students and the STEAM subjects.

What is STEAM? The initials stand for Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math. Technology has really taken over our lives in ways we don’t fully appreciate. It is so seamless in our lives that everything is interconnected. That is why in the 21st century it is necessary that these subjects be taught in conjunction with one another and show the effects on each other subject, not just taught as stand alone subjects.

Southwest Dairy Farmers did milking demos on the hour and discussed the dairy industry for visitors.

But there were numerous other hands-on exhibits to show the wonders to learn, while entertaining and hopefully stimulating minds. Exhibitors included Wimberley businesses, universities and tech schools, non-profits with a focus on STEAM, with support from the Wimberley Education Foundation.

A glimpse into the future is always eye opening.
