Wimberley FFA, 4H lead Livestock Show

The Hays County Live Stock Show was another success with leaders stating during the auction on Saturday that they believed the money spent would set record numbers for the show.

Both the Wimberley FFA and Wimberley 4-H came away with a number of honors from the event.

“I think overall we did pretty well,” Jason Giesen, Ag Science Teacher for Wimberley FFA, said. “We had 46 students entered and ended up getting 30 of our projects into the auction. That makes for a good day especially with 11 of those being reserve or grand champion.”

Overall, the Wimberley FFA had 11 Grand or Reserve Champions in their respected classes and brought in more than $40,000 on the auction block on Saturday at the sale. This number will increase once addons are finalized.

The Wimberley 4-H had 14 participants recognized in some form or fashion. At the time of publication they had not totaled the amount of money raised on the auction block.

“I think the kids did an amazing job,” Judy Walker, manager of Wimberley 4H, said. “Some suffered some hardships but in the end I think Wimberley 4H did better this year that we have in the past. Our club continues to grow and I see the future of the club is bright.”
