Wimberley continues discussions on Historic Preservation

Representatives from Post Oak Solutions will host a meeting at City Hall at the end of the month to discuss the proposed historic district design guidelines for downtown Wimberley.

These guidelines will govern the appearance and materials of proposed additions, new construction, and signage in the downtown historic district as well as provide guidance and preservation requirements for historic buildings.

Examples of infill proj ects, signage, and new construction will be presented at the meeting at noon on Thursday, Jan. 26. This is expected to help Post Oak Preservation gain insight from the community on approaches to maintaining Wimberley’s historic character.

Post Oak Preservation was selected by the city last year to complete a historic resources survey and report for the downtown core and adjacent areas of the city. This is part of a larger preservation project that includes ordinances to establish a local historic district, design guidelines and a National Register of Historic Places historic district nomination.

In June 2022, a survey of downtown Wimberley was conducted in an eort to develop a report and historic district map that iden- tifies resources for a National Register of Historic Places District nomination. Several stakeholder and public meetings were also held throughout the year — along with multiple informational meetings to solicit feedback from citizens and to gather additional information.

Post Oak Preservation Solutions has extensive experience in historic preservation initiatives in cities throughout the state of Texas, including Georgetown and San Antonio.
