Wimberley Cafe reopens with new owners

It was 6:45 in the morning and people started to stream in, with order taking starting at 6:55 a.m. Word got out about the Saturday opening. Who could say, “not open yet” to so many people who have been looking forward to the reopening of the Wimberley Café? Regulars and waitresses greeted each other warmly and were glad to see each other.

The café has the feel of the old café, but is brighter and up to date with white walls and light blue floors. But the opening almost didn’t happen with some permits still needing to be completed on Friday before Saturday’s opening. Panic almost set in but help arrived in time.

“It was exciting and down to the wire. It took a lot of people whose help made it possible, the Wimberley City Council, the County Commissioner’s office. It was a real community effort in every way,” owner “Chef” Jay Bachman said. Wife and fellow owner Jennifer said “I’m so tired.”

The opening happened without any major disasters and the cafe is open again.
