WHS UIL academics now district champs

Wimberley High School students qualified for regionals in 23 individual spots at the District 28-4A UIL Academic Meet on March 25-26 in Wimberley. In addition, five teams placed first in the team competitions, qualifying them to compete at regionals as well. In all, WHS placed first at the meet, 96 points ahead of second-place Boerne HS, to win the Academic UIL District Championship.

Quinton Mendoza, the defending state champion in both Current Issues and Social Studies, was the district champion in each event, also leading each of those teams to first-place finishes. Senior Ava Armstrong qualified for regionals in three individual events: Mathematics, Number Sense, and Physics. Seniors Carson Ramsey, Jack Garrett, Elysia Becken and sophomore Kathryn McKinney qualified for two individual events each.
