WHS UIL Academic team wins regional championship

The Wimberley High School UIL Academic Team won the regional meet held in LaVernia on April 22-23. In total, WHS students qualified for the State UIL Meet in 11 individual spots. In addition, three teams placed first in the team competitions, qualifying them to compete at the state meet as well. In all, WHS placed first at the meet, 6 points ahead of second-place Tuloso-Midway HS, to win the Academic UIL Regional Championship.

Senior Quinton Mendoza, the defending state champion in both Current Issues and Social Studies, was the Region IV champion in each event, also leading each of those teams to first-place finishes. Also, seniors Jack Garrett and Carson Ramsey qualified for state in two individual events each.
