Vote on Aqua Texas postponed

The proposed sewer system vote on whether the city should stay the course for the planned wastewater treatment plant or change to Aqua Texas has been postponed. Wimberley Mayor Susan Jaggers said the city is still waiting on pertinent information.

Jaggers said there is no current date for the vote, but it is expected in the next few weeks. Once the necessary information is in, there will be a workshop held with the Wimberley City Council. After the workshop, Jaggers plans to hold a Town Hall meeting on the same subject matter. After those two meetings are held, a vote will be scheduled.

During the July 19 Regularly Scheduled City Council Meeting, which will now be held at City Hall during the normal time at 6 p.m., the council will consider extending the continued 30-day pause on the Black Castle contract, which is for the construction of the city’s wastewater treatment plant.

It will also consider reappointments for multiple boards and commissions including the Parks and Rec Board, Transportation Advisory Board and Hotel Occupancy Tax Committee. The council will also consider re-establishing the Ad Hoc Wastewater Advisory Committee.
