Two COVID-19 related fatalities from Woodcreek

In the last week, Hays County has announced the deaths of two Woodcreek residents related to COVID-19. This brings the total of deaths of Woodcreek residents related to COVID-19 to three and raises the number in the Wimberley Valley overall to 15. The deaths were a man in his 70s and a man in his 80s.

This also comes as the county is beginning to see an uptick in new confirmed cases and hospitalizations from COVID-19. There were 110 lab-confirmed cases reported on Monday representing cases from the entire weekend averaging 37 new cases per day. There were 31 cases now considered recovered.

In the announcement, Hays County said it “has not received any confirmation from (Department of State Health Services) about the Delta variant.”

There were 11 new hospitalizations reported and four hospital discharges.

The current total of lab-confirmed cases for Hays County since the beginning of the pandemic is 19,348. Hays County has 277 active cases. In the past 21 days there have been 359 active cases. Hays County has had 929 total COVID-related hospitalizations and 15 people are currently hospitalized.

There are 14 active cases in the Wimberley Valley, none of which are within the city limits of Woodcreek. There have been 787 cases in the Wimberley Valley since the start of the pandemic with 758 considered recovered.
