Tuesday Night Arts returns Feb. 9

Tuesday Night Arts is a live, family-friendly virtual event produced by the Wimberley Parks and Recreation and Wimberley Valley Arts and Cultural Alliance. The event was created to support artists during COVID and provide a venue for our community to become familiar with and inspired by the fabulous creative folk who live here. Each two-hour interview and demonstration program will highlight an artist from each of 4 areas: Visual, Literary, Culinary, and Performing Arts.

Here’s the lineup for Tuesday, February 9th:

Authors, Ashley Brown and Nathan Brown 7 – 7:30

Ashley Brown is an editor, writer, content coordinator of Wimberley Living magazine and regular contributor to Rock & Vine magazine. Her first book, Letters to the Daughter I’ll Never Have, was recognized by the Foreword INDIE Book Awards, the New York Book Festival, and the San Francisco Book Festival.

Nathan Brown is an author, singer-songwriter, and award-winning poet who served as Poet Laureate of Oklahoma in 2013/14. He’s published over 20 books of poetry and memoir, most recently In the Days of Our Unrest and Just Another Honeymoon in France: A Vagabond at Large. His album, The Streets of San Miguel, was recorded at Blue Rock Studios in Wimberley.

Chef, Rachel Emry: 7:30 - 800

Rachel Emry, owner of Wimberley’s Blanco Brew, is a graduate of Le Cordon Bleu Culinary Academy. She has practiced her craft in Events, Health Care, Restaurants and as a Personal Chef, but has found her heart in the bakery. In 2013 she started a Coffee Roastery, Texas Artisan Roasters with her Dad. Today she delights in delivering the expertly roasted, organic coffees, scratchmade pastries and deli-style lunches that make Blanco Brew a unique, hometown favorite.

Artist, d.r.jones: 8 – 8:30

d.r.jones combines influences from the American Southwest with an appreciation for the European Expressionists in an attempt to create art that resonates emotionally and Intellectually as well as visually. His paintings can be seen at Bent Tree Gallery and other locations around Wimberley.

Musician, Roy Cunningham: 8:30 - 9

Roy Cunningham learned guitar playing with the blues masters of Preservation Hall in New Orleans and worked in Hollywood with many of classic rock’s greatest. He is a professional guitarist and singer, instrumental composer, voice artist and broadcaster, well known in Wimberley for his classic rock radio show and rock n’ roll performances.
