Studio Tour readies for big year

Wimberley provides home, community and inspiration to a remarkable variety of artists, some from the internationally renowned. Seven of these artists will open the doors to their creative inner sanctums, as part of the Wimberley Valley Art League’s annual studio tour. This year’s tour promises to be one of the best ever put together. The tour will take place Saturday, October 1, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday, October 2, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Outstanding Hill Country artists will welcome visitors and collectors into their private studios to experience their art and their creative spaces. Located in and around Wimberley, these spaces feature fine art, and a glimpse into the artist’s creative process, all set in dramatic Hill Country locations.

Opening their studios this year are Maxine Price, McKay Otto, George Krause, Warren Cullar, Mary Owens, Jefferis Peterson and James & Rosemary Barta. With guest artists in some studios, you’ll see original work from nine amazing artists. Featured in the open studios this year will be sculptors, painters, potters, assemblage and mixed media artists.

Come discover local artistic talent, see working studios, learn about the inspiration, process, tools and techniques of various artists. And support the arts by building your collection of original art while visiting the studios.

The tour is self-guided, and free of charge. You can download a copy of the map at Wimberleyvalleyartleague. org or pick up a copy at the Wimberley Visitor’s Center or Art on 12 Gallery.

Maxine Price is one of the artists that will open up her studio for the tour.
