Second local COVID-19 related fatality reported

The number of recent COVID-19 lab confirmed cases has increased over the last few weeks in Hays County.

As of Monday, November 9, there were 537 confirmed COVID-19 cases in Hays County reported within the previous 21 days. That number increased from 418 in the previous 21 days on November 2 and 316 in the previous 21 days on October 26.

There have been 91 fatalities related to COVID-19 in Hays County, two of which were residents of the Wimberley Valley. There have been 396 Hays County residents hospitalized with COVID-19. Of those, seven are currently in the hospital. The current number of hospitalized residents has dropped from 11 two weeks ago.

Some patients are in hospitals outside Hays County but are included in the numbers if they reside here. Likewise, an individual from another county who is in a local hospital would be accounted for in their county of residence.

The Wimberley Valley has had 124 lab confirmed cases of COVID-19, one of which is within the city limits of Woodcreek. Of those, 112 are considered recovered and 10 are considered active. There are no active cases within the city limits of Woodcreek. According to wimberleyisd. net, there have been 19 cases of COVID-19 for people involved with the school district, three of which are considered active. Of the total cases, six are students at Wimberley High School, three are students at Danforth Junior High and two are students at Jacob’s Well Elementary. There have been no reported cases of COVID-19 for teachers or students at Blue Hole Primary.

The total number of lab-confirmed cases in Hays County is 6,413 with 405 of those considered active. The total number of individuals considered recovered is 5,917.

The number of negative tests in Hays County is 39,022.
