Ozona Bank cares, teams with Crisis Bread Basket to collect food donations

Ozon Bank has teamed up with Wimberley’s Crisis Bread Basket to make it easier for bank customers to donate food items to the local food bank.

A year-round donation drop box is located in Ozona’s front lobby, and another box is in the motor bank lobby. Both are available during the bank’s business hours. Customers are encouraged to drop off non-perishable foods and personal items such as shampoo, toothbrushes, bath soap and other toiletries. The 10 “most-wanted” food items include peanut butter and jelly, healthy cereal and canned chili, fruit, meat, beans, milk tomatoes and pasta.

Donation box contents are collected by CBB volunteers for distribution to clients. For 33 years, the CBB has helped the Wimberley community to fight hunger and provide support for neighbors in need.

The bank’s partnership to help feed the hungry in the Wimberley community, called Ozona Bank Cares, fits nicely with the CBB’s mission statement, neighbors helping neighbors by providing food and encouragement. Through the years, Ozona Bank has partnered with the CBB on many projects and food drives designed to provide food and support to those in the community who temporarily cannot provide for themselves.

The Crisis Bread Basket is located at the rear of the Wimberley Visitor Center in the Brookshire Brothers parking lot. Regular distribution times are Tuesday afternoons from 5:30 to 7 and Thursdays from 2:30 to 4.
