New Fourth Degree Knights
Five members of the Wimberley St. Mary Catholic Church Knights of Columbus completed the Fourth Degree Exemplifications process and ceremony last week. According to KofC.org, when the Knights of Columbus was originally founded in 1882, three principles united its members were charity, unity and fraternity. At that time people feared that members of the Catholic faith owed their entire allegiance to the Church and could not be trusted as citizens of their country. Patriotism was added as the order’s fourth principles in 1900, based on the idea that Knights are loyal to both God and country. The new Fourth Degree Sir Knights are Christopher Oddo, Derek Ripp, Timothy Proctor, Dennis Parma and James Svetlik.
