KWVH changing the dial

Hopefully the past week you didn’t search the radio dial and think that Wimberley’s radio station was off the air. It wasn’t, it merely changed its frequency from 94.1 to 94.3. Better reception for the low power station is the big reason why. The Floresville station also broadcasting on the same wavelength interfered with KWVH’s signal.

“They moved their broadcast tower 19 km (or almost 12 miles) closer. Something which they were in their rights,” KWVH Station Manager Mike Crusham said. “(This change) improves the listeners experience and helps within the limitations of the signal coverage... On foggy mornings, at sunrise, low cloud cover, that’s the source of interference now. Having our app helps too.”

The radio station has also joined Amplify Austin.

“Amplify Austin Day is the Central Texas region’s day of giving. It is a local generosity movement that connects individuals, families, businesses, and foundations with the causes they are passionate about to create real, lasting change for the local nonprofits that address our most pressing needs,” according to their website. It helps non-profits throughout the area.

“Amplify Austin allows Wimberley Valley Radio to spread a wider net for donations from throughout Central Texas. It offers us a widely used platform and social media as well as other tools to get our message out beyond more than just our local supporters,” KWVH Board member Susan Raybuck said.
