King Feed icons retire

Somehow it just seems right on a holiday weekend that King Feed’s Chris Nichols and Tim Thompson, mere mortals to some and seemingly demigods of home improvement to others, retired. It was the first place to stop in when you needed good advice, whether inside for hardware, or outside with feed, seed, and in-season garden plants.

The problem solvers for the valley will still be around to visit and get advice from, but in reduced roles. “I’ve got a little office area inside,” Nichols said. Thompson said he would still be around, (which is a relief for all us gardeners in the valley).

The two of them offered overall 76 years of experience.

“I’ve been here (at King Feed) for forty-six years,” said Nichols. “And I’ve been here thirty years and one week,” kidded Thompson at their joint retirement party on Saturday February 16
