Justus, Cross, Campbell sweep WISD race

Rasco Woodcreek Mayor, Pulley and Hines on council

Rob Campbell retained his seat on the Wimberley ISD Board of Trustees and will be joined by two new trustees in Andrea Justus and Nathan Cross. In Woodcreek, Councilmember Jeff Rasco defeated Councilmember Aurora LeBrun for Mayor. Councilmember Brent Pulley was re-elected, and he will be joined on the council by Debra Hines. Voters also approved Proposition A from Hays County Emergency Services District #4 for Wimberley Fire and Rescue.

At the time of press, all election results are unofficial awaiting the official canvass of the vote. Wimberley ISD will canvass the election on Nov. 10 at 8 a.m. Woodcreek will canvass the election on Nov. 12 at 2 p.m. While essentially all votes have been counted, there may be small differences between the unofficial tally and the official canvas as overseas and absentee ballots could still be counted.

For WISD Place 1, Andrea Justus received 2,581 votes representing 51.41% of the vote compared to 2,439 votes for Lori Olson representing 48.59% of the vote.

For WISD Place 2, Nathan Cross received 2,579 votes representing 51.61% of the vote compared to 2,418 votes for Ed Moreland representing 48.39% of the vote.

For WISD Place 3, Rob Campbell received 2,694 votes representing 53.98% of the vote compared to 2,297 votes for Gretchen Holtsinger representing 48.39% of the vote.

For Woodcreek Mayor, Jeff Rasco received 452 votes representing 60.03% of the vote compared to 301 votes for Aurora LeBrun representing 39.97% of the vote.

For Woodcreek City Council, there were two positions available for the top two candidates receiving votes out of four candidates. Brent Pulley received 396 votes, representing 29.46% of the total vote, and Debra Hines received 359 votes representing 26.71% of the total vote. They will both be elected to the council. Councilmember Bob Hambrick received 309 votes representing 22.99% of the total vote, and Nancye Britner received 280 votes representing 20.83% of the total vote.

Because Rasco has one year left on his term as a city council member, he will have to resign from his seat on the council to become mayor. This will leave one vacant seat on the council. Once the new council is sworn in, they will have the choice to leave the seat vacant, hold a special election to fill the seat for the remainder of the term or to appoint a person to fill the remainder of the term. Traditionally, the city council for Woodcreek has elected to appoint a person to fill the seat when faced with the same decision in the past.
