The Hill Country Community Band presents ‘A Tribute to America’

The Hill Country Community Band presents a free, patriotic concert on Monday, July 5 at 3:00 p.m. in the auditorium at the First Baptist Church in Wimberley. The theme of this celebration concert is “A Tribute to America”. This special indoor event will be a cool way to spend the hot afternoon after that morning’s parade.

Featured on the band’s playlist are favorite musical Independence Day staples such as the “Armed Forces Salute”, “The Stars and Stripes Forever” and “America the Beautiful”. Some of the other many selections included are a soulful arrangement of “Amazing Grace” by John Newton and Frank Ticheli, a rousing rendition of “American Flourish” by Robert W. Smith, and “Each Time You Tell Their Story” with music by Samuel R. Hazing and the thought-provoking poetry of Dr. Samuel J. Hazo.

For half a dozen years, James Malik has directed the HCCB through many great concerts, playing both indoor and outdoor venues. This tribute to America will be his finale as conductor of the band. Recent personal and career moves have di rected Malik in new, exciting directions. The HCCB, although sad to see him go, is currently in the process of procuring his replacement. Who he or she will be is to be announced in the near future.

The First Baptist Church of Wimberley is located at 15951 Winters Mill Parkway.
