Friends and Neighbors Night: A Celebration of Community

Friends of the Blue Hole, Wimberley’s own radio station KWVH 94.1 and Wimberley resident an ABCTV’s Political Analyst Matt Dowd finally were able to show the movie “Won’t You Be My Neighbor?” a week later than originally planned and at a different venue.

Originally schedule for October 13 at the Blue Hole Park, but due to the rainstorms, it was held at the Community Center with a social hour, speaker Dowd, and the showing of the movie in dry confines.

Dowd, who with an Internet hookup is an independent political-wise, was a consultant for both parties, working with Democrat Bob Bullock and Republican George W. Bush’s campaigns.

With a short Question and answer before the movie, he related how he visited the top religious sites of the world’s great religions. Getting to each of those places required passing through squalor. This was a reminder of the humanity that all humans share and one huge similarity. Each has a major tenet of their religion as kindness to others. Something that seems missing in today’s political world.

It was a great introduction to the movie of Mr. Roger’s long running PBS show and teaching people and kids to be kind to one another.
