First Baptist Church Invites Everyone to Experience The Hope of Christmas

The First Baptist Church of Wimberley will offer three opportunities for the community to experience “the hope of Christmas” through music and Scripture readings, on Saturday, December 8, at 5:30 p.m., and Sunday, December 9, at 9:15 or 11:00 a.m. These worship events occur at FBCW’s regular weekend gathering times. Musical Director, Dan Stephens, will conduct the soloists, men’s ensemble, choir, and orchestra.

The first song of The Hope of Christmas, led by Andrea Justus, is “When Hope Came Down.” Stephens said, “One of the lyrics is ‘Redemption began in a stable in Bethlehem.’ It’s a song that calls all of us to worship and declare that ‘God is with us now.’ Next, Jonathan Bickham leads us in ‘Peace Has Come’, a modern worship song that has a familiar Christmas carol we can all sing together at the end.”

Several other pieces include a version of “Joy to the World” that was made popular by Christian recording artist, Chris Tomlin, a powerful arrangement of the stirring song, “Mary, Did You Know”, and a “sing-alongable” medley of familiar traditional Christmas songs entitled, “Come and Worship”, led by Pastor Scott Weatherford. Featured throughout the nine, moving musical offerings, scriptural readings from Luke, Chapter Two will recount the miracles of Christ’s birth.

Stephens said, “Closing our worship experience is Pastor Scott and the choir and orchestra leading us in ‘O Holy Night’, the iconic Christmas song that speaks to so many themes that the world needs to hear today. The Hope of Christmas is performed for the glory of God. We hope everyone enjoys it and that it provides enough joy to last throughout the season!”
