Final chance flood assistance funds now available

A final round of homeowner assistance is now available for Wimberley residents impacted by the 2015 floods that occurred May 23-25 and October 30, 2015. Since the time of these storms, the Wimberley community has risen up to the long-term challenge of recovery and seen an outpouring of assistance from nation-wide charitable organizations, local community organizations, and involved citizens. As the City approaches the fouryear anniversary of these monumental events, a new recovery assistance program has been made available through a Community Development Block Grant-Disaster Recovery (CDBG-DR) This grant has been awarded through the Texas General Land Office (GLO). The City of Wimberley has received $1,353,711.76 to fund the repair, reconstruction, elevation, or buyout of homes damaged in the 2015 flood events.

Program assistance provided by these last resort funds is intended to serve City of Wimberley homeowners that qualify as a low-to-moderate income households, lived in their home at the time of the storm, and still have a need to repair their home as a result of the 2015 storms.

Residents who qualify for the program must provide proof of eligibility by providing the documents described on the following page.

The City will be taking applications for assistance by scheduled appointment beginning June 3, 2019. All appointments will take place at the Wimberley Community Center located at 14068 Ranch Road 12, Wimberley, Texas 78676.

The Homeowner Assistance Program is being administered by the City with the support of grant administrator, Langford Community Management Services, Inc (LCMS). LCMS staff works in collaboration with the City to conduct the dayto-day applicant communication, assist with paperwork collection, and guide applicants through the recovery process from application to project closeout.
