Filing deadline nears for Wimberley election

There are three positions up for election on the Wimberley City Council, and so far one person has applied for each position.

The filing period for the election to fill places one, three and five is open until February 12 at 5 p.m.

Council members Rebecca Minnick and Christine Byrne, who were first elected in 2019, have filed to run for re-election in their current positions on the council. Place Five Councilmember Bo Bowman has not filed to run for re-election as of January 25.

Attorney David Cohen, who currently sits on the city’s Ethics Review Commission as Bowman’s appointment to the commission, has filed for Place 5.

The 2020 city council election was canceled when each position up for election was unopposed. It was the first time all positions were unopposed for an election in the city’s 20-year history.
