Sunday Concert Series at Old Glory Ranch with Texas Renegade

On October 21, Texas Renegade will play at Old Glory Ranch at 7 p.m. The entire day is a fundraiser for Rett Syndrome Research and Awareness, as the disease has impacted the child of staff members of Old Glory Ranch. WAGala 2018 Night of 1000 Stars

Wimberley Adoption Group will host their annual fundraiser WAGala Night of 1000 Stars on October 21st at 6pm at Rancho Mirando, 6600 FM 32 in Fischer. Have fun learning French

Learn to speak French and have fun. Judy Feinstein offers two French classes every Monday at the Wimberley Village Library. The classes are free and no pre-registration is required. Beginning French is 11:30 – 12:45, and French Deux is 1 – 2:15 pm.

A Lot More To Butterflies Than Just Pretty Wings

The Hill Country Chapter of the Native Plant Society of Texas will meet on Monday, October 22 for a program presented by Valerie Bugh, a local naturalist specializing in the arthropods of the Austin area, with interests in taxonomy and photography. She runs the Fauna Project at the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center, leads insect discovery walks, teaches entomology courses, provides insect/ spider identifications, gives talks to local organizations, and has published pocket guides to “Butterflies of Central Texas” and “Spiders of Texas.” Join us for social time at 6 p.m. with the program at 6:30 p.m. at the VFW Post #6441, 401 Jacobs Well Road (CR 182), Wimberley. Meetings are free to the public.

Domestic Abuse Month Panel Discussion

Hays Caldwell Women’s Center presents a panel discussion about Domestic Violence and its impact on communities. With a short video, Q&A session and more, the panel hopes to raise awareness of the problem, its ramifications, and consequences. Learn about free services available and where to get help and counseling. Wednesday, October 24, Noon – 1 pm at the Wimberley Village Library.

Herbfest 2018

The Hill Country Unit of the Herb Society of America will be holding Herbfest on Friday, October 26 from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Wimberley Presbyterian Church located at 956 F M 2325 in Wimberley. Featured speaker will be Matt Turner known for his books, tours at Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center and appearances on PBS’s “Central Texas Gardener.” Cost at the door is $20. Pet Costume Contest at Deer Creek

The 22nd annual Costume Contest for Pets will be held this year at Deer Creek Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. The competition will begin at 2 p.m. on October 27 and will be held rain or shine. The event benefits the W.A.G. Your pet on a leash or otherwise contained and a donation to W.A.G. is all that is required to enter. Safe Halloween at Fire Department

The Wimberley Volunteer Fire Department invites the community to Safe Halloween. The free event is a safe and fun Halloween experience with indoor trick or treating, games and an exciting opportunity for the children to spend time with their favorite firefighters. The event will be October 31 from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Wimberley Fire Department.

Making Jewelry with Artist Lydia Johns

Wednesday, October 17, Noon – 1:30 pm at the Wimberley Village Library. Make a simple pair of earrings with Lydia Johns and the Wimberley Bead Society. Learn some tricks and techniques of jewelry making in this introductory class and go home with a new pair of earrings. All supplies will be provided.

Scholarships for College Athletes

College Plan Coach Kira Holt will show you how to leverage athletic play and present the athlete to coaches across NCAS and NCIA divisions and conferences. These processes hold true for all sports governed by NAIA rgulations. The more parents/students know, the more likely they are to secure scholarships. Susanna’s Kitchen Coffee House Concert Series

He’s Texas born and bred, she’s a Canadian by birth. The two singer-songwriters met while touring and married 5 years ago. Now Adam and Chris Carroll make Wimberley their home base, although much of their time is spent on tour criss-crossing the US, Canada, and Europe. So it’s a rare treat when their new hometown gets to hear them in concert. They will take the stage at Susanna’s Kitchen Coffeehouse on October 18 at 7:00 p.m. Susanna’s Kitchen is held at the Wimberley UMC.

WAG Rescue Thirsty Thursday Happy Hour

It’s our October Thirsty Thursday Happy Hour at the awesome Shady Llama!!! Yes, it’s a repeat - last event was a tad soggy.... Mark your calendars and come to the Shady Llama Thursday, October 18th, from 4:30pm to 6:30pm for a great happy hour… or two! $10 to join in the fun - you get $4 select beer and $4 select wine, a raffle ticket for an awesome door prize, and the Dripping Wings Food Truck! Gigantic Annual Book Sale

The Wimberley Village Library will host the Gigantic Book Sale on Saturday, October 20 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Most hardbacks are $1. Paperbacks 25¢. If you wish to donate books, please drop them off at the library.

“FRIENDS AND NEIGHBORS NIGHT - A Celebration of Community” at Blue Hole

The Friends of Blue Hole will host “Friends and Neighbors Night – A Celebration of Community” at Blue Hole on Saturday, October 20. The event was moved from last weekend due to rain. It will be the same event, with Matthew Dowd speaking and the move “Won’t You Be My Neighbor?” playing. Picnic at 5:30, Matthew Dowd at 6:30, Movie at 7:00. See you there under starry skies!

Hill Country Community Band

The Hill Country Community Band presents the “Band Classics” concert and silent auction on Saturday, October 20. Auction begins 1:30 p.m. Concert at 2:00 p.m. Wimberley Community Center. Free admission.

Barnabas Connection 5K Run/Walk

Barnabas Connection will host a 5k Run/ Walk on October 20 at 8:00 a.m. The fun event will be for all ages and skill levels. The $35 entry fee helps as part of a fundraiser for Barnabas Connection. The event will be held at Blue Hole with the entrance being along the trail near the First Baptists Church on Winter’s Mill.

Little Red Riding Hood at EmilyAnn

EmilyAnn Theatre and Gardens presents Little Red Riding Hood for Children’s Theater on Saturdays and Sundays from September 29 through October 21. The interactive show welcomes all ages.
