Jacob’s Well: The History and Allure of the Springs

Quincy Kennedy from Hays County Parks be at the Wimberley Library on Wednesday, October 10. Noon to 1 pm to talk about the known history and formation of Jacob’s Well and the surrounding area. Then learn about current education programs and volunteer opportunities at the Jacob’s Well Natural Area.

Wimberley Garden Club meeting

A tour of Jacob’s Well Community Garden’s planting beds, pavilion and water catchment system will highlight the Wimberley Garden Club’s Oct. 10 meeting. Attendees will hear a presentation on the Community Garden’s plans for the future as well as an update from the Wimberley Valley Watershed Association. The tour begins at 9:30 and refreshments will be served. The Community Garden is located at 21 Logan’s Run, south of Cypress Creek (not on Mt. Sharp Rd.). The club meets the second Wednesday of each month September to May; guests and prospective members always welcomed. Annual dues are $20. Friends and Neighbors Night – A Celebration of Community at Blue Hole

Blue Hole Regional Park will host “Friends and Neighbors Night – A Celebration of Community” on Saturday, October 13 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Admission is free. From 5:30-6:30 Social hour - Bring your own picnic, chair and blanket. Complimentary wine, beer, popcorn and a Cookie Bar! From 6:30-7:00 Special guest and Wimberley resident Matthew Dowd, author and ABC political analyst. From 7:00-9:00 “Won’t You Be My Neighbor?” PG 13. Film about the beloved Fred Rogers, the creator of Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood. Park staff will provide activities for children. Movie underwritten by The Leaning Pear. Complimentary popcorn, beer, wine, and cookies provided by Ace Hardware, Altmeyer & Lewis Brewing, The Mad Rooster, HEB and volunteers, respectively.

Wimberley FFA Booster Club Wild Game Dinner

The Wimberley FFA Booster Club will host the Wild game Dinner on Saturday, October 13 from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. at the Wimberley VFW Hall. Tickets are $35. There wil be a live auction, gun raffle and bucket raffle. For more information, email [email protected].

WAG Adoption Day

Come to King Feed, located at 14210 Ranch Road 12 in Wimberley, from 10 to 12pm on October 13 and meet some of our fantastic dogs and puppies! You might just meet your new best friend! All available adult dogs have been fully vetted, are heartworm negative, microchipped and have been spayed or neutered. Puppies have been vetted, parvo tested, de-wormed and have had their shots current for their age and are microchipped. If you are unable to make this adoption event, we are always willing to arrange a meet & greet with our dogs at our Refuge and Adoption Center in Driftwood, TX. Starlight Symphony Orchestra

On Sunday, October 14, the Starlight Symphony Orchestra is pleased to open the 2018-2019 season with a concert featuring the exceptional Andy Rogers on double bass at 4:00 pm at the Wimberley First Baptist Church, 15951 Winters Mill Parkway, in Wimberley, TX. League of Women Voters Debate

The League of Women Voters will host a debate on October 15 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Wimberley Community Center centered on the November 6 election.

All new French Classes starting now

Judy Feinstein is back with all new French classes. Have fun and learn a new language at the Wimberley Village Library. Beginning French is every Monday, 11 – 12:15 pm. French Deux is every Monday 1 – 2:15 pm.

Making Jewelry with Artist Lydia Johns

Wednesday, October 17, Noon – 1:30 pm at the Wimberley Village Library. Make a simple pair of earrings with Lydia Johns and the Wimberley Bead Society. Learn some tricks and techniques of jewelry making in this introductory class and go home with a new pair of earrings. All supplies will be provided.

Scholarships for College Athletes

College Plan Coach Kira Holt will show you how to leverage athletic play and present the athlete to coaches across NCAS and NCIA divisions and conferences. These processes hold true for all sports governed by NAIA rgulations. The more parents/students know, the more likely they are to secure scholarships. Gigantic Annual Book Sale

The Wimberley Village Library will host the Gigantic Book Sale on Saturday, October 20 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Most hardbacks are $1. Paperbacks 25¢. If you wish to donate books, please drop them off at the library.

Hill Country Community Band

The Hill Country Community Band presents the “Band Classics” concert and silent auction on Saturday, October 20. Auction begins 1:30 p.m.Concert at 2:00 p.m. Wimberley Community Center. Free admission.

Little Red Riding Hood at EmilyAnn

EmilyAnn Theatre and Gardens presents Little Red Riding Hood for Children’s Theater on Saturdays and Sundays from September 29 through October 21. The interactive show welcomes all ages.

Sunday Concert Series at Old Glory Ranch with Texas Renegade

On October 21, Texas Renegade will play at Old Glory Ranch at 7 p.m. The entire day is a fundraiser for Rett Syndrome Research and Awareness, as the disease has impacted the child of staff members of Old Glory Ranch. Safe Halloween at Fire Department

The Wimberley Volunteer Fire Department invites the community to Safe Halloween. The free event is a safe and fun Halloween experience with indoor trick or treating, games and an exciting opportunity for the children to spend time with their favorite firefighters. The event will be October 31 from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Fire Department.
