Civic Club Monthly Meeting

The Wimberley Community Civic Club will hold its monthly meeting on March 13 from 11 a.m. to 1p .m. at Chapel in the Hills. The cost of the meeting is $15 and includes lunch. The March program will highlight distilleries. Representatives of the Texas Distilled Spirits Association will talk about their industry.

WAG Rescue Adoption Day

Come to King Feed, Saturday, March 14th, from 12pm - 2pm and meet some of our fantastic dogs and puppies! You might just meet your new best friend! All available adult dogs have been fully vetted, are heartworm negative, are micro chipped and have been spayed or neutered. Puppies have been vetted, parvo tested, de-wormed and have had their shots current for their age and are micro chipped. WAG Rescue provides a spay/neuter voucher through Emancipet. Free Animal Microchiping

The Animal Control Unit of the Hays County Sheriff’s Office will be offering free microchips to the first 75 dogs at the Ace Hardware parking lot (14307 Ranch Road 12) in Wimberley on Saturday, March 14 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The San Marcos Regional Animal Shelter will also be on hand with some adoptable pets.

Bootiful Boot #50

The Mermaid Society and Wimberley Valley Arts and Cultural Alliance will present Bootiful Boot #50 on March 14 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Middleton Brewing.

Starlight Symphony Orchestra Presents The Classical Young Artist Series

On March 15 at 4 p.m., the Starlight Symphony Orchestra will host the Classical Young Artist Series at the First Baptist Church in Wimberley. For more information, visit starlihgtsymphony.org.

Music Jamboree Fundraiser at Fischer Hall

On Sunday, March 15th, the Fischer Store School Community Center will hold its annual fundraiser. This year it’s a Music Jamboree in the Fischer Dance Hall with music by Frank Iarossi Silver and Gold Trio. The time will be 5:00 - 8:00 PM. A meal of pulled pork, beans, salad and dessert will be served and is included with ticket purchase. Tickets are $20 for adults and $5 for youth 12 years or younger. Tickets are available in advance only and can be bought from FSSCC members, at the Fischer Store (open Saturdays) and by contacting Loy Moe at 281-851-5134. State of the City Luncheon

Susan Gibson at Susanna’s Kitchen

Don’t miss Susan Gibson on March 19th at Susanna’s Kitchen Coffeehouse, located at Wimberley United Methodist Church (corner RR 12 & CR 1492). The concert starts at 7:30, and doors open by 7:00 p.m. Pizza, tamales, pie, coffee, and soft drinks are available. Tickets are sold at the door. Admission is $20 for adults, $5 for kids (under 18). Proceeds benefit several local nonprofits: The Barnabas Connection, Operation Good Shepherd, Camp Good Sam Wimberley, and Bright Beginnings Preschool. More information at www.wimberleyumc.org.

Family Campout at Blue Hole

The next family campout program will be on March 21st - 22nd starting at 5 pm. The campout will be $50 per family in the famous Blue Hole Swim Lawn. The campsites are 10 X 10 and fit up to 5 people. Come pitch your tent in the famous Blue Hole Swim Area and enjoy adventures such as a night hike, star gazing, a fire at the fire-pit, and more. Registration for this event is online through the Blue Hole Regional Park Facebook page or the City of Wimberley website. Space is limited. Party must include at least one child, age 13 or younger. Children must be supervised at all times.

Census Counts Presentations

Are you wondering about the 2020 Census? Why it’s important? The League of Women Voters will conduct two Census Counts Presentations at the Wimberley Public Library on March 23 at 6 p.m. and April 25 at 10 a.m. to answer such questions. In addition to presenting information on the Census, the League Members will act as a resource for individual who request help in completing the Census form online. Children are welcome to participate in activities that are entertaining and promote understanding of the 2020 census.

Preserving Hill Country Open Spaces NOW!

Smaller Hill Country communities are rapidly losing open spaces that help protect water resources, wildlife and Hill Country beauty. Preserving Hill Country Open Spaces NOW will be held at the Wimberley Community Center on Friday, March 27 from 9 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. Attendees will learn the future impacts of development and the latest tools and resources for opens space and park creation. Keynote: Dr. Roel Lopez, Director, Texas Natural Resources Institute, TX A&M. A special panel led by Hays County Commissioner Lon Shell, Precinct 3, will introduce new strategies for successful residential developments that preserve natural resources and appeal to families seeking the best of the Hill Country experience. Star Party at Blue Hole

The stars at night are big and bright, deep in the heart of Wimberley. Bring your family and friends out to the bi-annual Blue Hole Star Party event to enjoy an evening of stargazing in the Hill Country on March 28 at 7:30 p.m. The Texas State Astronomy Club and the Wimberley Dark Sky Association will be sharing their telescopes and knowledge with us for the night. Admission is free. It is encouraged to bring something to sit on, a picnic, and flashlights and then meet on the soccer fields near the basketball courts. Get ready to experience our park and the stars in a whole new way. Alcohol and smoking are prohibited at Blue Hole Regional Park.

Sleeping Beauty at EmilyAnn

EmilyAnn Theatre and Gardens will perform Sleeping Beauty as part of the Children’s Series on Saturdays at 10 a.m. and Sundays at 2 p.m. March 7 through 29. For more information visit emilyann.org.
