Beginning Meditation Class

Wimberley Village Library presents free meditation classes led by Ann Zbylot and Jeanne Lamb. Sample mindfulness, insight, and traditional yogic meditation practices. Sharon Salzberg, Jack Kornfield and Sally Kempton are a few of the contemporary teachers whose writings and practices will inspire us in these beginning classes Wednesday, October 3, 9:15 – 10:30 am.

Wimberley Valley Quilt Guild Meeting

Wimberley Valley Quilt Guild meets the first Wednesday of each month at the Wimberley Presbyterian Church. We meet at 10 a.m. for social time and start our meeting at 10:30 a.m. Our members enjoy programs and workshops that encourage creativity; we make items for our adopted charities; and we share techniques and ideas with one another. Wimberley Apron Society

Guest speaker and Master Gardener John Young has all the answers to questions about Oak Wilt. Learn how it kills trees; how to identify it; what trees are susceptible; how the disease is spread; how it can be prevented; and what treatments are available. Monday, October 8, 6:30 – 7:45 pm at the Wimberley Village Library.

Learn French with Judy Feinstein

French classes at the Wimberley Village Library will start again on Monday, October 8, with Judy Feinstein. Beginning Spanish starts at 11 am, French Deux starts at 1 pm. Classes are free and there is no signup required.

WVACA Art Expo

The Wimberley Valley Arts and Cultural Alliance will host an art expo at the Wimberley Village Library on October 9 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. for an evening of sharing art and learning about the art resources in the valley. Meet with artists, gallery owners, musicians, photographers, suppliers and more.

Jacob’s Well: The History and Allure of the Springs

Quincy Kennedy from Hays County Parks be at the Wimberley Library on Wednesday, October 10. Noon _ 1 pm to talk about the known history and formation of Jacob’s Well and the surrounding area. Then learn about current education programs and volunteer opportunities at the Jacob’s Well Natural Area.

Wimberley Garden Club meeting

A tour of Jacob’s Well Community Garden’s planting beds, pavilion and water catchment system will highlight the Wimberly Garden Club’s Oct. 10 meeting. Attendees will hear a presentation on the Community Garden’s plans for the future as well as an update from the Wimberley Valley Watershed Association. The tour begins at 9:30 and refreshments will be served. The Community Garden is located at 21 Logan’s Run, south of Cypress Creek (not on Mt. Sharp Rd.). The club meets the second Wednesday of each month September to May; guests and prospective members always welcomed. Annual dues are $20. Starlight Symphony Orchestra

League of Women Voters Debate

The League of Women Voters will host a debate on October 15 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Wimberley Community Center centered on the November 6 election.

Little Red Riding Hood at EmilyAnn

EmilyAnn Theatre and Gardens presents Little Red Riding Hood for Children’s Theater on Saturdays and Sundays from September 29 through October 21. The interactive show welcomes all ages.

Overeaters Anonymous

Overeaters Anonymous meets Wednesday evenings 6-7 PM and Sunday 3:00 - 4:00 PM, Wimberley Presbyterian Church, 956 FM2325. Overeaters Anonymous (OA) offers a program of recovery from compulsive overeating, binge eating and other eating disorders using the Twelve Steps and Twelve Traditions of OA. Guided Hikes At Blue Hole

2nd Saturday Guided Hike takes place every month at Blue Hole Regional Park at 9 a.m. No registration for the hikes is necessary. Guided Hikes begin at the Park Office. A water bottle and sturdy footwear is recommended. Call the Park office for more information at 512-660-9111.

Rebos Fellowship

Rebos Fellowship, (sober spelled backwards) is a new AA fellowship in Wimberley. It is for those who are not drinking or desire to stop drinking. Closed meetings are about one and a half hours long and meet everyday Monday through Sunday at Blue Hole located at 100 Blue Hole ln., in the picnic area across from the Maintenance vehicle look for the sign on the right.
