Learn How to Create Your Own Unique Holiday Flower Arrangements at Wimberley Garden Club’s November Meeting

Local floral designer Catherine Fletcher will lead a presentation and demonstration on creating simple, unique arrangements for holiday decorating on Wednesday, Nov. 13, at the Lutheran Church of the Resurrection, 101 W. Spoke Hill Dr. Following her program and a brief business meeting, members and guests are invited to stay for the club’s annual workshop where they create festive fall arrangements for Meals on Wheels recipients and residents of the Deer Creek skilled nursing facility. 2nd Wednesday WimberleyValleyWorks Meet-up

7th Generation Labs will host the 2nd Wednesday WimberleyValleyWorks Meet-up on November 13 from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Wimberley Visitor’s Center (use side door). Stuff the Turkey Fundraiser

Ozona Bank will be raising money for the Wimberley Crisis Bread Basket Stuff the Turkey Fundraiser to help provide Thanksgiving meals for those in need in Wimberley. Employees, dressed as turkeys, will be on the sidewalk at the stoplight at River Road and Ranch Road 12 collecting money on November 14 and 21 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Winter Wonderland

Chapel in the Hills Holiday Bazaar

Chapel in the Hills, Wimberley will host their 3rd Holiday Bazaar on Saturday, Nov. 16th from 9:00am-3:00pm, 14601 Ranch Road 12 (across from Dairy Queen). Come early and shop for Christmas ornaments, decorations, wreaths and centerpieces, decorated table-top trees, handcrafts, jewelry, baked goods, and so much more. 512-847-9762

Christmas Market

The Christmas Market at Wimberley Presbyterian Church will take place on Saturday, November 16, from 10:00 - 2:00PM in the Fellowship Hall. We will have vendors from various fair-trade organizations such as 10,000 Villages, The Guatemala Mission Project, SERRV, Acts 1:8 Blessings, The Quilt Guild, and our own WPC table filled with crafts hand-made by our congregation! Please join us for this fun and worthwhile event. All proceeds go directly to the organizations which will benefit many people in this holiday season.

School Safety Summit

Wimberley ISD Superintendent Dwain York and KAPS Superintendent Michael Hannum will lead a discussion on school safety at 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. in the WISD Board Room on Saturday, November

16. Also speaking is Wendy Derenger representing Moms Demand Action. This event is being sponsored by the Wimberley Democrats. Also presenting is WISD Safety Director Roz Simmons and WISD Student Support Director Amy Lyles. Moms Demand Action is a grassroots movement to prevent gun violence.

Holiday Market

Wimberley Valley Quilt Guild is participating in the Holiday Market at the Wimberley Presbyterian Church. The Market is on Saturday, November 16 from 10-2 and hosts many community non-profits. The guild has over 100 quilts, table runners, aprons, bags, pillowcases, ornaments, baby items and unique miscellaneous items - all handmade - gifts for all ages and tastes. The profit received goes to our adopted charity Hays Caldwell Women’s Center and to replenish our fabric and batting to continue making quilts, etc. for HCWC.

Wimberley Birding Society meeting

Craig Hensley, a biologist with the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department, will be the speaker at the quarterly meeting of the Wimberley Birding Society, set for 10 a.m., Monday, November 18, in the Wimberley Community Center. The meeting is free and open to the public. Hensley’s presentation will be about a program called Texas Nature Trackers, which aims at conserving birds such as the endangered whooping crane and the bald eagle. He will also discuss how citizen scientists can become involved in conservation efforts.

The Derailers at Susanna’s Kitchen

The Derailers will perform at Susanna’s Kitchen Coffeehouse on Thursday, November 21. Doors open by 7:00 p.m. Concert begins at 7:30 pm at Wimberley United Methodist Church (corner RR 12 & CR 1492). Tickets are available only at the door. Adults $20, students under 18 $5. Sugar Shack Bakery pie, tamales, pizza, coffee, and soft drinks are available. Proceeds benefit Barnabas Connection, Camp Good Sam Wimberley, and Operation Good Shepherd, and provides scholarships for WUMC’s Bright Beginnings Preschool. Building political respect workshop

The local alliance, Better Angels Central Texas, is scheduled to hold their first Red/Blue workshop in Hays County on November 21, 6-9 p.m. in Wimberley. The workshop is free. Registration is thru BetterAngelsCentralTexas.org. Seats are limited and registration is required. Click on “Events” at the top of the page. Trained, certified facilitators will conduct the workshop. They will lead Reds and Blues in structured conversations designed to break down stereotypes and find where they agree. Registered observers are allowed but may only speak during breaks.

Native American Dancers at Wimberley Playhouse

A swirl of color. Dancing. Singing. Drumbeats. The Wimberley Players welcome everyone to the next free Saturday of Cultural Sharing event at the Wimberley Playhouse. On Saturday Nov. 23 at 2:00 pm, we will welcome the Indigenous Cultures Institute of San Marcos, represented by members of an extraordinary group of dancers, Mitotiliztli Yaoyollohtil, which translates to Heart of the Warrior. All Cultural Sharing events are made possible by a matching Cultural District Grant from the Texas Commission on the Arts, and generous donors. Community Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving Day from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Wimberley Community Center will be the free Community Thanksgiving. The menu incldues smoked turkey, cornbread dressing, green bean casserole, sweet potatoes and dessert including pumpkin pie. Even more, if y0u can’t make it, it can be delivered to you by calling or texting David Lewis at (512) 923- 5380. Donations are accepted year round at the Ozona Bank or on site Thanksgiving Day.

Trail of Lights Grand Opening

The Hill Country’s Christmas treasure, the EmilyAnn Trail of Lights, opens November 30th and runs nightly through December 28th! Steel Mangnolias at EmilyAnn

The true story turned into a now classic and frequently produced play, Steel Magnolias has a little something for every audience member. Hill Country Wellness Reset 2020

Tickets are now on sale for the upcoming Hill Country Wellness Reset (HCWR), taking place January 31st - February 1st, 2020 at Old Glory Ranch in Wimberley, TX.
