Trick-or-Treat at Deer Creek

Trick-or-treating will take place 5:30-7:30 on Halloween night. Deer Creek of Wimberley respectfully asks that families do not arrive before 5:30 so that our elderly hosts can eat their supper before the excitement begins. Candy donations are appreciated, as are any volunteers who would like to help distribute candy to the residents or to sit with residents who will need assistance participating. Thanks to everyone in Wimberley for keeping this holiday alive at Deer Creek!

A “Killer” Halloween Party

The Lumber Yard is hosting A “Killer” Halloween Party on October 31. There will be 3 costume contests, including pets, face painting, candy, music, food and drinks. The event runs from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Steel Mangnolias at EmilyAnn

The true story turned into a now classic and frequently produced play, Steel Magnolias has a little something for every audience member. Steel Magnolias runs November 1-24, Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30 pm and Sundays at 2 pm at EmilyAnn. Buy your tickets online at www.emilyann.org. Seating is limited and tickets are selling very quickly.

Herb Fest 2019

Herb Fest 2019, An Italian Herb Feast, will be held on November 1, from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Damian Mandola, world famous chef and restaurateur of Carrabba’s and Trattoria Lisina, will speak at 11 a.m. There will be a cooking demo, sit down lunch, silent auction and herbal product shop.

MoonGlow Big Ban Dance

Wimberley Valley Big Band invites you to The MoonGlow Big Band Dance on November 2 at the BackStage venue, located behind the burnedout former Cypress Creek Café on Wimberley Square. Gates open at 4:30 pm and music is from 5-8 pm. In case of rain, the dance is cancelled. The MoonGlow Dance requires tickets, but the tickets are free, available at Eventbrite or at the gate. Bring your lawn chairs, your blankets, your snacks and drinks (it’s byob), and possibly a flashlight. Parking available in the Public Parking Lot off Blue Heron Drive. We are pleased to announce that “Gringa’s Grub Shack” Food Truck will be on site, offering delicious burgers, tacos and snacks. Come to listen! Come to dance! Come to enjoy!

The Wimberley Institute of Cultures is having the public grand opening of the new Jacob de Cordova exhibit in the Wimberley Valley Museum on Sunday, November 2 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Pollinator Power! - Free Family Fun Day

Location: Jacobs Well Natural Area – 1699 Mt. Sharp Rd. Wimberley, TX Time: Saturday, November 2nd 12:00pm-2:00pm Details: Pollinators! Let’s learn about them! Come out to Jacob’s Well Natural Area on Saturday, November 2nd for a couple of hours of fun games and activities focused on our powerful pollinator friends. Specifically, bees, bats, and butterflies. We will talk about what pollinators are, the important role they play, and how we can help them do what they do! We will have models, specimens, games, and more! This event is part of our monthly Free Family Fun Day series. Event begins at Noon and will end around 2:00 p.m. Guided Hike will begin at 1:45 p.m. No tickets necessary to participate. This event is FREE to the public.

Missions and Christmas Giving Fair at Wimberley UMC

Wimberley United Methodist Church will host its annual Missions and Christmas Giving Fair on Sunday, November 3, 2019, from 9:30 to 11:00 am and 12:00-2:00 pm. Nonprofit organizations will provide a variety of beautiful products from around the world. Purchases of their products and donations to their causes will help provide a livable income to the workers who make and supply these special items. Bright Beginnings Preschool will prepare Enchilada Plate lunches for $10 each from 12 to 2 pm. Proceeds will benefit the Wimberley United Methodist early childhood preschool program. St. Mary’s Annual Garage Sale

St. Mary Catholic Church in Wimberley will hold their annual garage sale in the parish hall on Thursday, Nov. 7 through Sunday, Nov. 10. The garage sale will open with an Early Bird Sale on Thursday, Nov. 7 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm with an admittance fee of $6. The Regular Sale will begin on Friday, Nov. 8, from 9:00 am until 6:30 pm, continuing on Saturday, Nov. 9 from 9:00 until 4:00 pm and on Sunday, Nov. 10 from 1:00 pm until 3:00 pm. There is no admittance fee for the Regular Sale times. Sunday will be Bag Sale Day at which time shoppers can purchase all that fits into a brown grocery bag for $5. Items that will be available for sale include collectibles, furniture, household decor, appliances, kitchen items, lawn and garden items, toys and games, holiday decor, books and videos, clothing of all sizes, linens and bedding and much more! This annual garage sale is a fundraiser for the parish and all proceeds benefit the church. St. Mary Church is located at 14711 Ranch Road 12 in Wimberley.

Acoustic Table featuring Courtney Patton & Jason Eady

Prima Vista Events will host Courtney Patton and Jason Eady on November 7 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. The cost is $65 per ticket. There will be appetizer, dinner, dessert and the acoustic concert included in the ticket price. Complimentary beverages provided. Ticket holders will have the opportunity to enter a raffle to win a signed acoustic guitar by the evening’s featured artist. All proceeds from raffle benefiting Wimberley Valley Radio - KWVH 94.1. Wimberley Valley Art League Juried Show

The Wimberley Valley Art League will host a juried show. The juror will be Dripping Springs mixed media artist Debbie Little-Wilson. The opening reception will be on November 8 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. More information can be found at wimberleyartleague.org.

Open House for Veterans and their Families

Wimberley VFW Post 6441’s annual open house for all area veterans and their families is Saturday, Nov. 9 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Representatives of veterans’ service groups will be on hand to provide information and help attendees apply for benefits and other programs. There’s live music and entertainment for the whole family, and a barbecue lunch is free for veterans and their families. Non-veterans may join us for the meal for a donation. Making iNaturalist & Seek Work for You

The Native Plant Society of Texas, Hill Country Chapter, will meet on Monday, November 11 at Hays Country AgriLife Extension building, 200 Stillwater Road, Wimberley, on Hwy 12 next for the new Sonora Bank. Join us for a program presented by Craig Hensley, Texas Nature Trackers Biologist, to find out how to use the fun and easy iNaturalist and the new Seek app on your smartphone to document native plants for yourself and science. Craig will teach us how to use iNaturalist to identify and contribute pictures of native plants. Every observation can contribute to biodiversity science, from the rarest butterfly to the most common backyard weed. Then share your findings with scientific data communities to help scientists find and use your data. Come prepared with the iNaturalist and Seek apps loaded and signed up on your phone so you’ll be ready to put it into action. Social time at 6:00 p.m., program at 6:30 p.m. Everyone welcome! Programs are free to the public.

Learn How to Create Your Own Unique Holiday Flower Arrangements at Wimberley Garden Club’s November Meeting

Local floral designer Catherine Fletcher will lead a presentation and demonstration on creating simple, unique arrangements for holiday decorating on Wednesday, Nov. 13, at the Lutheran Church of the Resurrection, 101 W. Spoke Hill Dr. Following her program and a brief business meeting, members and guests are invited to stay for the club’s annual workshop where they create festive fall arrangements for Meals on Wheels recipients and residents of the Deer Creek skilled nursing facility. Breakfast goodies are served at 9:30 a.m., and the program starts at 10. The club meets the second Wednesday of each month September to May, and guests and prospective members are always welcomed.
