Farmers Market

Every Wednesday from 3-6 p.m. locals come together for the Wimberley Farmers Market at River Road and RR 12 in The Community Center’s parking lot. For more information, call (830) 833-5428.

Medicare Education

On Wednesday, July 24 Medicare Education will be held at the Wimberley Community Center from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. It will include a quick explanation of Medicare; the different parts, how it works, and your options for coverage. Information on extra benefits for diabetics will also be covered.

Wimberley Toastmasters

Wimberley Toastmasters meets the second and fourth Thursdays, at First Baptist Church Wimberley, 15951 Winters Mill Parkway, at 7:00 PM. Toastmasters helps members develop their public speaking and leadership skills. Meeting are open to the public. Bingo Early Bird games

Dripping Springs Fair and Rodeo

The Dripping Springs Fair and Rodeo will once again return to Dripping Springs Ranch Park, 1042 Event Center, from Friday July 26 through Sunday 28. The event will also have kid activities, a petting zoo, pet costume contest, vendors, and of course, the popular “mutton bustin.” Admittance for kids under age 5 are free, ages 6-12 is $10 per night, adults $15 per night, and there is a $5 daily car pass. Food Handlers Permit Class

The Hays County AgriLife Extension office will be hosting a Food Handlers Permit class on July 27 at the Hays County offices at 200 Stillwater Road in Wimberley from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Classes are $20 and the permit lasts for two years. Call (512)393-2120 to register.

WISD Primary School Ground Breaking

The Wimberley Independent School District will host a ground breaking for the new primary school on Winter’s Mill Parkway at 5 p.m. on July 29.

Wimberley Valley Big Band Psalm 150 Concert

The Wimberley Valley Big Band will be “making a joyful noise” on August 4 from 3-4 pm in a free concert, The Psalm 150 Concert, at St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church. Guests will enjoy about an hour of great Big Band, Swing, light jazz music as well as stunning vocals, thanks to St. Stephen’s and the Wimberley Valley Big Band. The Concert is named for the “musicians’ psalm,” composed by King David, calling on everyone to praise the Lord with every instrument available. The 21-piece Big Band under the direction of Doug Gillory is ready and able to do that! Come and join us. The Concert is free, but donations are welcome and will go to the St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church community outreach ministry.

Market Days

The first Saturday of every month March through December, thousands of people descend upon Wimberley for the Lions Club’s Market Days. From 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., 475 booths line the oldest outdoor market in the Texas Hill Country. The next Market Days will be held on Saturday, August 3.

Adult Summer Reading Program at the Wimberley Village Library

June 1 through August 10. Don’t let the kids have all the fun. Summer reading is for adults, too! Pick up a reading log at the circulation desk, read 3 books, and turn in the log for a chance to win one of three fabulous prizes: a $125 gift card to Tilly’s in Dripping Springs; $50 gift card to Jobell’s Café and Bistro in Wimberley; and $50 gift card to Kiss the Cook in Wimberley

Café Susanna

Cafe’ Susanna begins her 16th season serving delicious meals to the community on June 6th from 11:00am to 1:00pm. The fare will be good ole’ church cookin’ featuring an entree’, two sides, bread, ice tea and your choice of desserts from our table of decadent home-made choices for only $9.00. Come and join the fellowship and good food every Thursday during June, July & August. We are located at 1200 CR 1492 at Wimberley United Methodist Church. Unfortunately, we will not be serving lunch on August 8th but all other Thursdays we will be ready and waiting for you. Remember, we have “Take-Outs”.

Crisis Bread Basket Summer Supplement Program

This summer, Wimberley’s Crisis Bread Basket is offering a special program of Summer Supplement Bags to clients with school-age children. These bags are intended to help offset the summer discontinuation of food that children receive during the regular school year. The summer supplement bags are in addition to normal food distributions the family receives and will provide nutritional food for children. Regular distribution times are Tuesdays from 5:30 to 7 p.m. and Thursdays from 2:30 to 4 p.m. Contact the Crisis Bread Basket at 512-847-5523 or email at [email protected].

Wimberley Area Cancer Support Group

The Cancer Support Group meets on the second Wednesday of every month in the Wimberley Visitors Center board room, 11:30-1:00, brown bag lunch. If you have cancer now or experienced it in the past, grab your lunch and join us for a relaxing time with others who share your journey. The Corral Theatre
