Cactus Pear Festival

Thirteen world-class artists join founder and Artistic Director Stephanie Sant’Ambrogio in Wimberley on July 11 at the Chapel in the Hills at 7 p.m. They will be performing masterpieces by the “Rock Stars” of classical music such as Beethoven, Schubert, Mozart and Brahms, alongside newer works by 20th & 21st century composers including Ravel, Francaix, Shostakovich and Clarke. The event is free.

WAG Rescue Adoption Day

Come to King Feed, Saturday, July 13 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. and meet some of our fantastic dogs and puppies! You might just meet your new best friend! All available adult dogs have been fully vetted, are heartworm negative, are micro chipped and have been spayed or neutered. Puppies have been vetted, parvo tested, de-wormed and have had their shots current for their age and are micro chipped. WAG Rescue provides a spay/neuter voucher through Emancipet. Snow White & Rose Red

EmilyAnn Theatre and Gardens presents Snow White & Rose Red from July 13 through July 28 in the Burdine Johnson Studio Theatre as part of the Children’s Series. Shows are on Saturdays at 10 a.m. and Sundays at 2 p.m. For more information visit www.emilyann.org.

Second Saturday Gallery Trail

Every month, around a dozen local galleries stay open late and welcome people to come early, stay late for wine and enjoy the light bites and an art-filled evening. Most galleries on the trail can be reached on foot around the Wimberley Square, but there are a few that you will want to get back in your car to visit. Sara Thurman Book Signing

Sara Thurman and her book “Small Beginings: A Journey to the impossible” will have a signing event July 16,. Food, drinks and door prizes and a signed commemorative 5”X7” prints of “My Delight in Small Beginnings” will happen at the BellaVida Bed and Breakfast and Retreat Center at 3 to 7 p.m. The center is located at 5701 FM 2325.

Ruthie Foster at Susanna’s Kitchen

Ruthie Foster will play on July 18 at Susanna’s Kitchen. Susanna’s Kitchen Coffeehouse is located at the corner of RR 12 and CR 1492 (at Wimberley United Methodist Church). Doors open by 7:00 pm and the concert begins at 7:30 pm. Tickets are available at the door only: $25 for adults, $5 for kids. Pizza, tamales, pie, coffee and soft drinks are available. Proceeds benefit The Barnabas Connection, Operation Good Shepherd, Camp Good Sam, and provide scholarships for Bright Beginnings Preschool.

WVAL Juried Art Exhibition

The Wimberley Valley Art League will host a Juried Art Exhibition and Champagne reception on July 19 at 5 p.m. at the Wimberley Community Center.

Best Little Whorehouse in Texas

The Wimberley Players present The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas. Shows are Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30 p.m. through July 21. Tickets can be purchased at www.wimberleyplayers.org

Food Handlers Permit Class

The Hays County AgriLife Extension office will be hosting a Food Handlers Permit class on July 27 at the Hays County offices at 200 Stillwater Road in Wimberley from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Classes are $20 and the permit lasts for two years. Call (512)393-2120 to register.

Adult Summer Reading Program at the Wimberley Village Library

June 1 through August 10. Don’t let the kids have all the fun. Summer reading is for adults, too! Pick up a reading log at the circulation desk, read 3 books, and turn in the log for a chance to win one of three fabulous prizes: a $125 gift card to Tilly’s in Dripping Springs; $50 gift card to Jobell’s Café and Bistro in Wimberley; and $50 gift card to Kiss the Cook in Wimberley

Café Susanna

Cafe’ Susanna begins her 16th season serving delicious meals to the community on June 6th from 11:00am to 1:00pm. The fare will be good ole’ church cookin’ featuring an entree’, two sides, bread, ice tea and your choice of desserts from our table of decadent home-made choices for only $9.00. Come and join the fellowship and good food every Thursday during June, July & August. We are located at 1200 CR 1492 at Wimberley United Methodist Church. Unfortunately, we will not be serving lunch on August 8th but all other Thursdays we will be ready and waiting for you. Remember, we have “Take-Outs”.

Crisis Bread Basket Summer Supplement Program

This summer, Wimberley’s Crisis Bread Basket is offering a special program of Summer Supplement Bags to clients with school-age children. These bags are intended to help offset the summer discontinuation of food that children receive during the regular school year. The summer supplement bags are in addition to normal food distributions the family receives and will provide nutritional food for children. Regular distribution times are Tuesdays from 5:30 to 7 p.m. and Thursdays from 2:30 to 4 p.m. Contact the Crisis Bread Basket at 512-847-5523 or email at [email protected].

Wimberley Area Cancer Support Group

The Cancer Support Group meets on the second Wednesday of every month in the Wimberley Visitors Center board room, 11:30-1:00, brown bag lunch. If you have cancer now or experienced it in the past, grab your lunch and join us for a relaxing time with others who share your journey. The Corral Theatre

Wimberley Cycling Club ride
