Wimberley Players Present The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas

The iconic musical The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas opens on the Wimberley Players stage June 28 and runs through July 21 and includes two additional Thursday night performances, July 11 & 18. Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30 P.M., Sundays at 2:30 P.M. Reserved seating $30; Student tickets $20 with ID. (Prices include fees). Tickets are going fast. Wimberley Metaphysical Fair

Saturday, June 29, 2019 - 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. – Reverend Dr. Sheryl T. Martin, Owner & Manager of Heaven-Pathways-Earth will be conducting, it’s Metaphysical and Holistic fair at the Wimberley Community Center. Documentary Film Night features “Knock Down the House”

At the Wimberley Village Library, Tuesday, July 2, Healthy Potluck at 6:45. Fim starts promptly at 7pm. Director Rachel Lear captured lightning in a bottle when she turned her cameras on four exceptional women who mounted grassroots campaigns against powerful incumbents in an inspiring look at the 2018 midterm elections. The film has been perceived as the AOC documentary, but three other women, Cori Bush, Amy Vilela, and Paula Jean Swearengin all received pride of place as well, and are featured in the film. Knock Down the House premiered at Sundance, where it won the Audience Award, the U.S. Documentary, and the Festival Favorite Award.

Fourth of July Parade

The Wimberley Valley Chamber of Commerce invites businesses, nonprofits, families and individuals to participate in Wimberley’s Annual Independence Day Parade which will be held on Thursday, July 4th at 10:00 a.m. The theme is “Stars and Stripes.” Entry forms are available at the visitor center or online at www.wimberley.org.

July 4th Hometown Patriotic Concerts

After all the excitement of the Annual Wimberley Independence Day Parade you will want to sit inside in the A/C and enjoy a rousing 4th of July concert presented by the Wimberley Community Chorus and the Hill Country Community Band. Now in its 8th year, the concerts are at 1 and 4 pm at the First Baptist Church. Admission is free (donations accepted). We celebrate our country, its history and the patriots that defend it. VFW Rodeo

The Wimberley VFW Rodeo will be held on Thursday, July 4 through Saturday, July 6. Gates open at 5:30 p.m., Mutton Bustin’ at 7 p.m., Rodeo begins at 8 p.m.

Big Scoop Ice Cream Social

The annual Big Scoop Ice Cream Social, which benefits Camp Good Sam, will be held on July 6 from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Wimberley Community Center. It is old fashioned summer fun, with ice cream, entertainment, and contests.

Family Fun Day At Jacob’s Well

On July 6 at 12 p.m. – 2 p.m. Discover-Learn-Explore every first Saturday at Jacob’s Well Natural Area. All family programs are free. Events are held rain or shine. Creative Writing Group Forming at the Wimberley Village Library

The intention of this group is to encourage, support and improve anyone interested in writing. Much can be accomplished through the collective energy of writers who choose to meet together. Adult Summer Reading Program at the Wimberley Village Library

June 1 through August 10. Don’t let the kids have all the fun. Summer reading is for adults, too! Pick up a reading log at the circulation desk, read 3 books, and turn in the log for a chance to win one of three fabulous prizes: a $125 gift card to Tilly’s in Dripping Springs; $50 gift card to Jobell’s Café and Bistro in Wimberley; and $50 gift card to Kiss the Cook in Wimberley

Cafe’ Susanna begins her 16th season serving delicious meals to the community on June 6th from 11:00am to 1:00pm. The fare will be good ole’ church cookin’ featuring an entree’, two sides, bread, ice tea and your choice of desserts from our table of decadent homemade choices for only $9.00. Come and join the fellowship and good food every Thursday during June, July & August. We are located at 1200 CR 1492 at Wimberley United Methodist Church. Unfortunately, we will not be serving lunch on July 4th & August 8th but all other Thursdays we will be ready and waiting for you. Remember, we have “Take-Outs”.

Crisis Bread Basket Summer Supplement Program

This summer, Wimberley’s Crisis Bread Basket is offering a special program of Summer Supplement Bags to clients with school-age children. These bags are intended to help offset the summer discontinuation of food that children receive during the regular school year. The summer supplement bags are in addition to normal food distributions the family receives and will provide nutritional food for children. Regular distribution times are Tuesdays from 5:30 to 7 p.m. and Thursdays from 2:30 to 4 p.m. Contact the Crisis Brea Basket at 512-847-5523 or email at [email protected].

Wimberley Area Cancer Support Group

The Cancer Support Group meets on the second Wednesday of every month in the Wimberley Visitors Center board room, 11:30-1:00, brown bag lunch.
