Wimberley Valley Big Band Back-Stage Dance Party

Wimberley Valley Big Band BackStage Dance/Party: June 1, 5:30-8:30 pm weather permitting! Come join us for music under the Wimberley stars at the BackStage area behind the old Cypress Creek Café! Bring your lawn chairs or blankets to sit on the grass, your bugspray, your coolers. There are no chairs at this venue. A food truck is slated to be nearby. Admission is ticketed but free, and donations are always welcome to your local nonprofit Wimberley Valley Big Band. Park at the Public Parking Lot off Oak Drive (RR 12 to Blue Heron Run to Oak Drive) and enter through the back gates. Come to listen! come to dance on the pavement or the grass! Come to enjoy great Big Band music!

Market Days

The first Saturday of every month, thousands of people descend upon Wimberley for the Lions Club’s Market Days. From 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., 475 booths line the oldest outdoor market in the Texas Hill Country.

Family Fun Day At Jacob’s Well

Discover-Learn-Explore every first Saturday at Jacob’s Well Natural Area. The next event will be held on June 1 from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. All family programs are free. Events are held rain or shine. WAG Rescue Dog Adoption Day

Saturday, June 1st from 10am to 12pm at Firehouse Animal Health Center,166 Hargraves Dr., Suite C100, Austin. Come to Firehouse Animal Health Center this Saturday and meet some of our fantastic dogs and puppies! You might just meet your new best friend! All available adult dogs have been fully vetted, are heartworm negative, are micro chipped and have been spayed or neutered. Puppies have been vetted, parvo tested, de-wormed and have had their shots current for their age and are micro chipped. WAG Rescue provides a spay/neuter voucher through Emancipet.

Lions Club Hosts Speaker Matthew Dowd

On Tuesday, June 4, at 6:00 p.m., the Wimberley Lions Club will hold a regular meeting at the Wimberley Community Center. Their guest speaker will be political analyst, Matthew Dowd, his topic, “Leadership in a time of Great Disruption: how we lead and serve through the paradoxes of life”. The second regular meeting of the Wimberley Lions Club will install the new president and three vice-presidents, who will begin their duties on July 1. Taize Service at St. Stephen’s

St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church will host Thy Kingdom service in the style of Taize on Wednesday, June 5 at 6 p.m.

Heat of Texas Genealogy Society meeting

Heart of Texas Genealogy Society will meet on June 6, 2019 at the Wimberley Village Library. We hope to see everyone there and we hope you will bring a friend. Our presentation starts at 1:30 pm. We start with brown bag lunches and discussion time around 12 noon. During this round table time, please bring your questions, road blocks, and other things you would like to discuss. We all have learned some new things during this time. Ann Rollings, Executive Director of Emily Ann Theater and a DAR member, will provide our presentation on “Getting to Know Them - Tools to unlock the Secrets of our past families” and ways to share what is found with future generations. Ann and a cousin go on road trips to visit living family and research ancestors and have some great tools to share.

Second Saturday Gallery Trail

Every month, around a dozen local galleries stay open late and welcome people to come early, stay late for wine and enjoy the light bites and an art-filled evening. Most galleries on the trail can be reached on foot around the Wimberley Square, but there are a few that you will want to get back in your car to visit. The next event will be held on June 8. Café Susanna

Cafe’ Susanna begins her 16th season serving delicious meals to the community on June 6th from 11:00am to 1:00pm. The fare will be good ole’ church cookin’ featuring an entree’, two sides, bread, ice tea and your choice of desserts from our table of decadent home-made choices for only $9.00. Come and join the fellowship and good food every Thursday during June, July & August. We are located at 1200 CR 1492 at Wimberley United Methodist Church. Unfortunately, we will not be serving lunch on July 4th & August 8th but all other Thursdays we will be ready and waiting for you. Remember, we have “Take-Outs”.

Calling All Singers

Independence Day Parade

The Wimberley Valley Chamber of Commerce invites businesses, nonprofits, families and individuals to participate in Wimberley’s Annual Independence Day Parade which will be held on Thursday, July 4th at 10:00 a.m. The theme is “Stars and Stripes.” Entry forms are available at the visitor center or online at www.wimberley.org.

Crisis Bread Basket Summer Supplement Program

This summer, Wimberley’s Crisis Bread Basket is offering a special program of Summer Supplement Bags to clients with school-age children. These bags are intended to help offset the summer discontinuation of food that children receive during the regular school year. The summer supplement bags are in addition to normal food distributions the family receives and will provide nutritional food for children. Regular distribution times are Tuesdays from 5:30 to 7 p.m. and Thursdays from 2:30 to 4 p.m. Contact the Crisis Brea Basket at 512-847-5523 or email at [email protected].

Wimberley Cycling Club ride

All Abilities Chair Exercises

Lauren Robins and Carla Daws lead these classes that include breathing techniques, gentle strengthening exercises, mild yoga stretches, and gratitude practice – all from a seated position. Every Tuesday and Thursday, 9:30 – 10:30, at the Wimberley Village Library.
