Heart of Texas Genealogy Society meeting

Heart of Texas Genealogy Society will meet on May 2, 2019 at the Wimberley Village Library. David Arscott will do apresentation on “ Medieval women and what they can tell us about their families, and how we can apply their stories to discovering more about our own ancestors.”. David will focus on three women in the 8th to 10th centuries in Gaul. Their stories will be told by using history, geography, cultural anthropology, and what David calls People Recognition. He also will show how to use the genealogical tools of onomastics (naming patterns) and prosopography (resolving gaps in your ancestry) to get back past a brick wall. He will show how these can be integrated into a set of simple techniques that will allow you to more easily put the lives of your ancestors into the context of their time and place. During the brown bag round table from 12 noon to 1:30 pm prior to the presentation time, please bring your questions, road blocks, and other things you would like to discuss.
