In the Garden with Master Gardeners “Spring Vegetables”

Thursday, March 28, 2 - 3 pm, at the Wimberley Village Library. If your green thumb is starting to itch, you can join Suzanne Love for a program focused on “Spring Vegetables”. During this interactive discussion, Suzanne will explain the importance of 1)proper planning, 2)site and soil preparation, 3)plant selection and planting guide, and 4)tools and tips for a bountiful harvest.

4th Thursday Book Club

Due to a scheduling problem we will meet this month in the living room at Deer Creek. March 28, 11am – Noon. National Book Award Finalist “News of the World” by Paulette Jiles will be discussed .In the aftermath of the Civil War, an aging itinerant news reader agrees to transport a young captive of the Kiowa back to her people in this exquisitely rendered, morally complex, multilayered historical fiction that explores the boundaries of family, responsibility, honor, and trust.

Chapel in the Hills Garage Sale

Chapel in the ills will host a garage sale on Friday March 29th from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturday, March 30 starting at 9 a.m.

Picnic With The Community for St. Stephen’s

Every year, parents of St. Stephen’s school hosts a private extravaganza to raise money to help fill funding gaps. This year, the school is stepping up the game and stepping outside. On Saturday, March 30th from 3-7pm, a celebration will be held at Vista Brewing in Driftwood, TX. The event is open to all, and there will be entertainment and games for all ages. From bounce houses to beer steins, ponies, to face painting, live music, and farm fresh food – there will truly be something for everyone to enjoy. All proceeds of the event go directly to St. Stephen’s School to fund things like maker’s programs, technology upgrades, and building and playground maintenance. The school is also hoping to increase teacher benefits.

A Beatrix Potter exhibition

A Beatrix Potter exhibition, curated by Sue Jones, will be on display in the at the Wimberley Village Library throughout the month of April. Helen Beatrix Potter was an English writer, illustrator, natural scientist, and conservationist best known for her children’s books featuring animals, such as those in The Tale of Peter Rabbit. Born into an upper-class household, Potter was educated by governesses and grew up isolated from other children. She once said, “Thank goodness I was never sent to school; it would have rubbed off some of the originality.”

Doc Night features “JANE”

At the Wimberley Village Library on Tuesday, April 2, Healthy Potluck at 6:45. Fim starts promptly at 7pm. Drawing from over 100 hours of never-before-seen National Geographic footage that has been tucked away for over 50 years, director Brett Morgan tells the story of JANE. The film offers an unprecedented, intimate portrait of Jane Goodall – a trailblazer who defied the odds to become one of the worlds most admired conservationists.

Wimberley Wine Walk

April 4 @ 5:00 Pm - 8:00 Pm This year’s Wine Walk will take place at Blue Hole Regional Park. We will host wineries, food trucks and live music for you to enjoy! Heart of Texas Genealogy Society meeting

Heart of Texas Genealogy Society will meet on April 4, 2019 at the Wimberley Village Library. Ms. Laura Worsham, one of our members and a member of the Jacob’s Well Chapter of DAR will do a presentation on “Finding Your Female Ancestors, Uncovering some of their Mysteries, and Discovering their Amazing Stories”. She will identify knowledge needed as clues to calculate family relationships. She will include new avenues and sources that may hold the missing answers. Hopefully, this information will help you break down a brick wall and find new family. During the round table prior to the presentation time, please bring your questions, road blocks, and other things you would like to discuss.

Concert in the Park at Blue Hole

Concert in the Park will be held every Friday in April at Blue Hole Regional Park. On Friday, April 5, Christy Hays will play starting at 6 p.m. Admission is by donation.

Wimberley Community Chorus Spring Concert

The Wimberley Community Chorus will host their spring concert with guest musicians from the Wimberley Valley Big Band on April 5 and 6 at 7 p.m. and April 8 at 3 p.m. The concert will be held at Chapel in the Hills.

Diabetic Education Classes

FREE Diabetic Education Classes are being offered by Wimberley Home Health. The April classes will be held at the Wimberley Medical Plaza, 201 FM 3237, Suite #123, Wimberley, Texas 78676. We will meet on Friday April 5,12,19, and 26th, from 1:00 -3:00. Plan to attend all four classes. Customer Appreciation Day at Wimberley Pharmacy

Wimberley Pharmacy will host a Customer Appreciation Day on April 5 from 2 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. at the pharmacy. There will be live music, food, wine, vendors, raffles, giveaways and a lots of fun.

Star Party at Blue Hole

The city of Wimberley and Texas State Astronomy Club will host a Star Party at Blue Hole Regional Park on April 6 at 7 p.m. The event is free and will be held on the soccer fields. Bring flashlights and experience the park like you never have before. Guests are encouraged to bring picnic, chairs and blankets.

Family Fun Day at Jacob’s Well

JACOBS WELL APRIL 6 Come join us for a day of family education and fun focusing on Texas wildflowers and native plants 12:00 noon to 2:00 PM. There will be activities for children, wildflower walks, Master Gardeners and Master Naturalists will be present to help you identify plants, teach the benefits of pollinators, and answer questions about your individual landscaping issues.

Caregivers Conference

The first regional conference of the national non-profit organization CareGiving.com will be held in Wimberley on April 6 from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. at the Wimberley Community Center to support “family caregivers,” which are those who help loved ones as they struggle with aging, chronic disease or other disabilities. There are more than 10 workshops on variety of topics related to family caregiving, including: Alzheimer’s care, self-care, financial planning and more. Taize Prayer

A Taize Prayer service “The Way of the Cross” will be held at St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church on April 10 at 6 p.m. The community is invited to join for the special service hosted by St. Stephen’s Daughters of the King.

Adult Spelling Bee Postponed

The Adult Spelling Bee originally scheduled in April by the Friends of the Wimberley Village Library has been cancelled. The event may be rescheduled later in the year or in 2020, according to the event planning team. For more information, please contact Carroll Wilson at [email protected].
