Dark of the Moon by Texan Theatre

Produced on Broadway in 1945, Dark of the Moon is set in the Appalachian Mountains and centers on the character of a witch boy who goes to the valley as a human to pursue his love, the beautiful Barbara Allen. The Texan Theatre Group will perform with opening night on Thursday, December 6 and the show runs every evening through Saturday, December 8 at 7 p.m.at the JGW/LMW Lone Star Theatre at Wimberley High School. There will also be shows Saturday, December 8 and Sunday, December 9 at 2 p.m. Tickets are $5 at the door.

Genealogy Society meeting

Heart of Texas Genealogy Society will meet on December 6th at the Wimberley Village Library. Our topic for our December meeting is “How we can connect to cousins and what happens after we find them!!” During the round table prior to the presentation time, please bring your questions, road blocks, and other things you would like to discuss. The meeting starts at 11:30 a.m. and the presentation begins at 1:30 p.m.

Wimberley Community Chorus presents ‘Winter Landscapes’

Wimberley Community Chorus presents “Winter Landscapes – Music of the Season” on December 7th and 8th at 7:00 p.m. and December 9th at 3:00 p.m. All concerts held at Chapel in the Hills, 14601 RR 12, and are free to attend. www.wimberleycommunitychorus.org

‘The Hope of Christmas’

The First Baptist Church of Wimberley will offer three opportunities for the community to experience “the hope of Christmas” through music and Scripture readings, on Saturday, December 8, at 5:30 p.m., and Sunday, December 9, at 9:15 or 11:00 a.m. These worship events occur at FBCW’s regular weekend gathering times. Musical Director, Dan Stephens, will conduct the soloists, men’s ensemble, choir, and orchestra.

Winter’s Eve

Winter’s Eve is an annual community event put on by Wimberley Merchants Association on December 8 featuring 9 bands on 5 stages, free instant Santa photos, 50/50 raffle and free entry for 14 merchants’ supplied gift baskets worth $1700. Visit 8 merchants with a ticket punch. Fun for the entire family. Events start at 5 p.m. with Santa arriving at 6 p.m. with merchants open until 10 p.m.

Holiday Bazaar

Carved and painted gourds, handmade jewelry, books by local authors, tie dye clothing, candles, fresh roasted coffee, wood art, clothing, seasonings and accessories are just some of the gifts for you and your loved one can be found at the 13th annual Holiday Bazaar at the Wimberley Community Center on Saturday, December 8th from 10am-4pm. Eliminate shopping malls and find 30 artists and crafters under one roof with plenty of free, convenient parking. The Senior Citizen Craft shop will be offering fresh baked goodies and drinks. While you’re in Wimberley for the Bazaar you can also enjoy Winters Eve on the Square and EmilyAnn Trail of Lights in the evening. Both events are held outside under the stars.

WAG Adoption Day

Wimberley Adoption Group Saturday, December 8th from 10am to 12pm at King Feed in Wimberley. Come to King Feed, located at 14210 Ranch Road 12 in Wimberley, and meet some of our fantastic dogs and puppies! You might just meet your new best friend!

Big Band Dance

It’s that time of year again when we get into the holiday spirit, and the Wimberley Valley Big Band has a great gift for you: a Free admission dance full of great big band music and pleasurable listening! The dance will be held at the Wimberley Community Center on Sunday, December 9, from 3-5 pm. As always, dress is casual, and BYO snacks and drinks as well as your friends. There’ll be some new tunes as well as many of the tried-and-true Big Band era hits, and even a couple of Christmas carols thrown in.

Holistic Gardening Series: Korean Natural Farming

Korean Natural Farming takes advantage of indigenous microorganisms to produce fertile soils that yield high output without the use of herbicides or pesticides. Stacy Shepherd will continue to guide you through the steps to cultivate and educate the native microorganisms on your own land. Wednesday, December 12, 6:30 – 7:45pm, at the Wimberley Village Library

Coffee and Conservation

The Hays County Extension Office will hold a Coffee and Conservation talk at Sip! On the Square on December 13 from 8:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. Learn from the agency about trees, livestock, wildlife and wildfires.

Blue Christmas at Blue Hole

Celebrate the holiday season at Blue Christmas on December 15th from 2:00 to 7:30 at Blue Hole Regional Park! Come stroll in the park and enjoy vendors, food trucks, and hot drinks. Sit by the fire and roast a couple of marshmallows and listen to live Christmas music. Catch a horse carriage ride through the park. Stop by the photo booth, and get your picture with Santa! Children will also enjoy our Reindeer Games during the event. Wear your ugliest Christmas sweater and enter our contest starting at 4:30. Stay into the evening for the movie ELF! starting at 5:30 on Blue Hole’s swim lawn. Admission is FREE. Moviegoers are encouraged to bring a blanket or lawn chairs. Alcohol and smoking are prohibited at Blue Hole Regional Park.

Starlight Symphony at First Baptist Church

Sunday, December 16, 2018: Wimberley Join the Starlight Symphony Orchestra as it celebrates the holiday season with a family-friendly concert at 4:00 pm at the Wimberley First Baptist Church, 15951 Winters Mill Parkway, in Wimberley, TX. Trail of Lights

EmilyAnn Theatre & Gardens invites you to the 21st Annual Trail of Lights daily, November 24th through December 28th, 2018. Sundays through Thursdays 6-9pm. Fridays and Saturdays 6-10pm. Stroll a walking path with more than 100 lighted exhibits created by local businesses, organizations, churches and families. Roast a marshmallow at the Yule Log and enjoy live entertainment on most nights. Admission is free; donations are appreciated

Basic Life Skills contest

Basic Life skills class series will be taught at the AgriLife Extension office, starting January 5th, 2019. All classes are FREE and open to ages 13-18 years old. Topics include: Cooking basics, car care basics, grocery shopping tips, financial management, interview skills/public speaking, self defense, basic first aid, Tool basics. Classes will be held on Saturdays once a month. The first class will be Cooking basics on January 5thfrom 9-11am. Call the Texas A&M Agrilife Extension office to sign-up!
