In the Garden with Master Gardeners: Fire Wise Landscaping

Learn to minimize risk of structural loss due to wildfires by making wise decisions about landscaping design, planting and pruning techniques. Carole Croft Introduces FireWise Landscaping designed for people who live in wildland / urban interface areas. You will acquire a basic understanding of the three zones that surround a home, gain an increased awareness of the types of fuels around your home, and learn how to remove them. Wednesday, October 31, 2 – 3 pm at the Wimberley Village Library.

WVAL Show and Sale “Second Nature”

On Friday, November 2 through Sunday, November 4, the Wimberley Valley Art League will have a show and sale “Second Nature. On the market will be paintings, jewelry, pottery, sculpture and more at the Wimberley Community Center. Opening reception will be on Friday, November 2 from 5 p.m.m to 8 p.m. More information can be found at www.wimberleyartleague.org.

Mousetrap at EmilyAnn

The Mousetrap runs on weekends from Friday, November 2 through Sunday, November 18. Show times are Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30 p.m., and Sunday matinees at 2:00 p.m. Seating in the Burdine Johnson Indoor Theatre is limited. Salvation Army Lunch

The Salvation Army will offer a pulled pork lunch plate with a side.drink and manske roll. Entertainment will be offered by the Salvation Army Band on November 3rd ,100 Thermon Dr, San Marcos. Tickets are $10 a plate and available at Brookshire Brothers Pharmacy. Tickets will also be available at the gate with the band starting at 11am and finishing around 2pm. Proceeds go to the Salvation Army of Greater San Marcos.

Market Days

The first Saturday of every month March through December, thousands of people descend upon Wimberley for the Lions Club’s Market Days. From 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., 475 booths line the oldest outdoor market in the Texas Hill Country.

WILD Education Day

Texas Master Naturalist educators will lead Project WILD activities for children of all ages at the Jacob’s Well Nature Center on November 3 at 11 a.m. Celebrate the Monarch’s 5th generation return to Mexico and learn about this awesome butterfly. Make your own Monarch Mask, search for signs “Who is in the pollinator garden?” Participate in a short hike with our Master Naturalist to explore native and adapted plants for butterflies around the Nature Center.

BBQ Fundraiser

Join us Sunday, November 4th from 12 to 3PM for BBQ, Beer and Wine at Los Olivos in Wimberley! (just off the Square on RR 12). We will be set up in front of Los Olivos and we will have BBQ Brisket and Chicken with sides for $10 a plate! The BBQ will be fantastic, and it promises to be a fun event!! All proceeds go to WAG Rescue helping us help the pups!

Election Day

November 6th is Election Day. Polls at the Wimberley Community Center will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Documentary Film Night At The Library

Home Tour Kickoff Party

On November 9th and 10th, owners of six unique homes in Wimberley will open their doors for the 31st Annual Hill Country Home Tour hosted by the Wimberley Community Civic Club (WCCC). The homes can be seen from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. each day of the tour. Tickets for the home tour are $20 and may be purchased at the Visitor’s Center or on line at www.wimberleyccc.org. Print out your receipt and bring it to the Visitor’s Center to obtain your tickets. There will be docents in every home to tell you about each home as you walk through at your leisure. Your ticket will allow you to tour these homes either or both days. Take a few friends and have lunch between viewing homes! Please notice the parking signs and park as directed when driving to each home.

Lion in Winter by Wimberley Players

The Wimberley Players present Lion in Winter from Nov. 9 – Dec. 2. Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30 P.M. and Sundays at 2:30 P.M. Reserved seating $22; Student tickets $18 with ID. Star Party at Blue Hole

The City of Wimberley and the Texas State Astronomy Club invite you to Blue Hole Regional Park to attend a FREE Star Party on November 10th. The event will be held at the basketball courts. Join us from 12:00pm to 5:00pm for our first Star-Themed Artisan Fair! Starting at 6:00pm, bring your flashlights and experience the park like you never have before! Kiss The Cook Demonstration

November 10th from 5pm to 7pm a Demonstration Class (observation with tasting and sampling)–$25.00 each, reservation required, class limit min 3, max 8. “Two Classic Thanksgiving Side Dishes—Grandmother Jessie’s Southern Cornbread Dressing and Cranberry Sauce”. These two dishes are the basis for every Thanksgiving. Taught by local cooking class teacher, Terri Burney-Bisett, (who for years, had Casinada Cooks! Classes in her home here in Wimberley) will teach you how to make the MOST delicious Turkey Dressing that has ever gone in your mouth! Your pallet will be saying, “more, give me more!” Her recipes are all made with fresh ingredients from start to finish. Recipes included

VFW Open House on Veterans Day

Wimberley’s Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6441 will host a Veterans Day open house for area veterans on Saturday, November 10 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Representatives from veteran service organizations will be available to help attendees with information and application assistance for various veteran programs and benefits. A lunch will be provided for free for veterans and their families. Those who wish to show their support for these veterans may join the lunch for a minimum donation to help offset the cost of the event.

Kevin Welch at Susanna’s Kitchen

Kevin Welch will play at Susanna’s Kitchen on November 15. Susanna’s Kitchen is located at the corner of RR 12 and CR 1492 (at Wimberley United Methodist Church). Doors open by 7:00 pm and the concert starts at 7:30 pm. Tickets are available at the door and are $20 for adults, $5 for kids. Pizza, tamales, pie, coffee and soft drinks are available. Proceeds benefit The Barnabas Connection, Camp Good Sam Wimberley, Operation Good Shepherd, and Bright Beginnings Preschool.
