Wimberley Apron Society

Wimberley Apron Society is a group of local men and women who share interests in homesteading, cooking, baking, gardening, preservation of foods, and healthy living. The Apron Society is open to the public and meets at the Wimberley Village Library on Wednesday, August 22, 6:30 – 7:45 pm

Café Suzanna

Café Susanna, a weekly fundraising lunch for the Wimberley Methodist Church, will have King Ranch Chicken on Thursday, August 23. For $9 you get an entre, side, drink and dessert. The lunch is served on Thursdays from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Pollinators and Native Plants

The Hill Country Chapter of the Native Plant Society of Texas will meet on Monday, August 27 for a program presented by Elizabeth Bates, Texas Parks and Wildlife, about Hill Country pollinators and their critical ecosystem service that helps to maintain the integrity of native plant communities and ensures our healthy gardens. The social will start at 6 p.m. at the VFW Post with the program at 6:30 p.m.Meetings are free to the public.

Chamber Breakfast

On August 29 at 8 a.m. chamber members, prospective members and those who are interested in learning more about the chamber are invited to attend the weekly breakfast. We meet at the Wimberley Cafe at 8:00am every Wednesday. This is an opportunity to meet local business owners and community leaders and make meaningful connections. Twelfth Night at EmilyAnn

EmilyAnn Theatre & Gardens presents “Twelfth Night” performed in the indoor studio theatre on Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30 p.m. and Sundays at 2:00 p.m. The show runs August 31st through September 23rd. www.emilyann.org

Gunner Thames Memorial Rodeo

The Gunner Thames Memorial Rodeo will be held at the Chester Franklin Rodeo Arena at the Wimberley VFW on Saturday and Sunday September 1, and 2. The rodeo starts at 7:30 p.m.

Market Days

The first Saturday of every month, thousands of people descend upon Wimberley for the Lions Club’s Market Days. From 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., 475 booths line the oldest outdoor market in the Texas Hill Country.

Documentary Film Night at the Library: “Undefeated”

Healthy Potluck at 6:45. Fim starts promptly at 7pm. This film chronicles three underprivileged black kids from a neighborhood bereft of opportunity in inner-city Memphis and their volunteer coach, Bill Courtney, who tries to help them beat the odds on and off the field. The film night will be on Tuesday, September 4.

Beginning Meditation Class

A new and free program will be starting at the Wimberley Village Library on Wednesday, September 5th, 9:15 – 10:30 am. Classes will be led by Ann Zbylot and Jeanne Lamb. This meditation group will be an opportunity to sample mindfulness, insight and traditional yogic meditation practices. Sharon Salzberg, Jack Kornfield and Sally Kempton are a few of the contemporary teachers whose writings and practices will inspire us in this beginning class.

Lunch & Learn: Medicare Made Easy with Kurt Schick

Kurt Schick of Medicare & Retirement Solutions will help take the guesswork out of applying for Medicare. Discover Medicare options, learn about eligibility rules and sign up time frames at this free, educational workshop. Wednesday, September 5, Noon – 1pm, at the Wimberley Village Library.

Art League Studio Tour

Wimberley provides home, community and inspiration to a remarkable variety of artists, from the internationally renowned to emerging talent. Eight of these artists will open the doors to their creative inner sanctums, as part of the Wimberley Valley Art League’s annual studio tour. With guest artists in some of the studios, you’ll see original work from a number of amazing artists. The tour will take place Saturday, September 29th , from 10am to 5pm and Sunday, September 30th from 12pm to 5pm.

The Story at St. Stephen’s

St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church is hosting a church-wide program, THE STORY, which is free and open to the public. THE STORY is for everyone: children, teens, and adults. It’s an exciting, new way to learn about Scripture by exploring the entire Bible in chronological order in just 31 weeks. Small groups meet at various locations in Wimberley, Kyle, and Buda on Sunday and throughout the week. Overeaters Anonymous

Overeaters Anonymous meets Wednesday evenings 6-7 PM and Sunday 3:00 - 4:00 PM, Wimberley Presbyterian Church, 956 FM2325. Overeaters Anonymous (OA) offers a program of recovery from compulsive overeating, binge eating and other eating disorders using the Twelve Steps and Twelve Traditions of OA. Guided Hikes At Blue Hole Regional Park

2nd Saturday Guided Hike takes place every month at Blue Hole Regional Park at 9 a.m. No registration for the hikes is necessary. Guided Hikes begin at the Park Office. A water bottle and sturdy footwear is recommended. Call the Park office for more information at 512-660-9111.

Rebos Fellowship

Rebos Fellowship, (sober spelled backwards) is a new AA fellowship in Wimberley. It is for those who are not drinking or desire to stop drinking. Closed meetings are about one and a half hours long and meet everyday Monday through Sunday at Blue Hole located at 100 Blue Hole ln., in the picnic area across from the Maintenance vehicle look for the sign on the right. Wimberley Area Cancer Support Group

The Cancer Support Group meets on the second Wednesday of every month in the Wimberley Visitors Center board room, 11:30-1:00, brown bag lunch. If you have cancer now or experienced it in the past, grab your lunch and join us for a relaxing time with others who share your journey.
