Café Suzanna

Café Susanna, a weekly fundraising lunch for the Wimberley Methodist Church, will have Baked Beef Stroganoff on Thursday, July 19. For $9 you get an entre, side, drink and dessert. The lunch is served on Thursdays from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Johnny Nicholas at Susanna’s Kitchen

Johnny Nicholas may not be a household name, but among musicians his is a name looked up to. A multi-instrumentalist and singer described as having a “warm, toasty growl of a voice that can roll from rumble to croon and back,” Nicholas is also a consummate songwriter. Johnny Nicholas takes the stage at Susanna’s Kitchen Coffeehouse on July 19. The concert starts at 7:30, and doors open by 7:00 p.m.

Mystery Book Club discusses “In the Woods” by Tana French

All mystery readers are invited to join the discussion which takes place at the Wimberley Village Library on Thursday, July 19, from 1 – 2pm. Richly atmospheric and stunning in its complexity, In the Woods by Tana French is utterly convincing and surprising to the end. Winner of the Anthony, Macavity, and Barry Awards for Best First Novel, and the Edgar Award for Best First Novel by an American Author.

Free Spanish Classes

Keep calm and learn Spanish at the Wimberley Village Library. Three levels of Spanish, taught by Angelica Vargas, are offered every Friday: Beginning Spanish 10 – 11 am; Intermediate Spanish 11:15 am – 12:15; and Conversational Spanish 12:30 – 1 pm. It’s free and no sign up is required, so jump right in!

WVAL Members Juried Exhibition

The Wimberley Valley Art League will host a Juried Exhibition at the Wimberley Community Center. The Juror is Margo Handwerker, the Director of Galleries at Texas State University. The opening artists Champagne Reception will be hosted on July 20 at 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Community Center. The art will stay up until September 11.

Hill Country Jamboree Fundraiser for TESPA

Vintage Oak Farms in Rolling Oaks will host the Hill Country Jamboree. There will be both indoor and outdoor music venues, family friendly events, food by Hays City Store, wine, beer, snow cones, an auction and raffle. 100 percent of the proceeds go to the Trinity Edwards Springs Protection Association. The event is on July 22 from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. at 400 Limestone Lane in Driftwood.

Wimberley Players Present Little Shop of Horrors

From June 29 – July 22 on Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30 P.M. and Sundays at 2:30 P.M. the Wimberley Players will present Little Shop of Horrors. In addition, there are two Thursday performances on July 12 and 19 at 7:30 P.M. Reserved seating $26; Student tickets $20 with ID. Robin Hood at EmilyAnn

Join EmilyAnn Theatre and Gardens as they adventure with Robin Hood, in this 40-minute interactive show, perfect for ages 2-99. This show is performed in our indoor studio theatre and asks the young audiences to participate with call and response and action to keep the story moving forward. After the show, the audience members can take pictures with the characters and get their autographs. In the Garden with Master Gardeners

Every last Tuesday, 2-3pm at the Wimberley Village Library. This monthly series offers gardening-related classes through a partnership with Hays County Master Gardeners Speakers Network. The speakers have earned Specialist Training Certification in a variety of areas and cover topics in depth.

EmilyAnn Celebrates 20 Years with Romeo and Juliet

The EmilyAnn Theatre & Gardens is celebrating its 20th Anniversary! As part of honoring being a member of this loving Wimberley community, they are producing Romeo & Juliet for their Shakespeare Under the Stars production, the same show that was the first show ever to be performed at the EmilyAnn Theatre twenty years ago. This year’s SUS program features 42 junior high and high school students, coming from various towns throughout Central Texas. Join the EmilyAnn Theatre as they hold a BIRTHDAY BASH on opening night of Romeo & Juliet, August 2, 2018.

Rebos Fellowship

Rebos Fellowship, (sober spelled backwards) is a new AA fellowship in Wimberley. It is for those who are not drinking or desire to stop drinking. Closed meetings are about one and a half hours long and meet everyday Monday through Sunday at Blue Hole located at 100 Blue Hole ln., in the picnic area across from the Maintenance vehicle look for the sign on the right. Wimberley Area Cancer Support Group

The Cancer Support Group meets on the second Wednesday of every month in the Wimberley Visitors Center board room, 11:30-1:00, brown bag lunch. If you have cancer now or experienced it in the past, grab your lunch and join us for a relaxing time with others who share your journey. All Abilities Chair Exercises

Every Tuesday and Thursday, 9:30 – 10:30am at the Wimberley Village Library. Lauren Robins and Carla Daws lead these free classes that include breathing techniques, gentle strengthening exercises, mild yoga stretches and gratitude practice – all from a seated position. Farmers Market
