Best Little Parade in Texas

The parade begins at 10:00 a.m. at the intersection of Green Acres Rd. and FM 2325, proceeds to Ranch Road 12, continues through the Wimberley Square and ends at Blue Heron Run. Parade participants who are walking or riding horses will exit the parade route at Blue Heron, the remaining participants will exit the route at RR 12 and Stillwater. Immediately following the parade on July 4th, the Wimberley Christian Church, 13706 RR 12, offers free hot dogs and children’s activities at the Community Center.

Free Hot Dogs at Wimberley Christian Church

Free Hotdogs on the 4th of July! Wimberley Christian Church will be hosting its annual 4th of July hotdog roast immediately after the parade. We will be serving hotdogs with all the fixings, including chili if you want, and drinks. Fun activities for the kids will be provided. The food is free and fellowship is extraordinary.

Fourth of July Concerts

The Wimberley Community Chorus and Hill Country Community Band is proud to announce its 7th Annual Fourth of July concerts. These free Hometown Patriotic Celebration concerts will be held again at the First Baptist Church (15951 Winters Mill Pkwy) at 1:00 and 4:00 on July 4th. So, take in the parade and come cool off to stirring music honoring our country and our veterans. Have dinner with friends and enjoy the evenings fireworks. The concerts are free, but we do ask for voluntary donations.

Doc Film Night at the Library showing “In Search of Balance”

At a genetic level, humans are literally connected to the rest of the natural world through our DNA. This film is an exploration into how increased urbanization and an obsession with technology have resulted in a disconnect from the natural environment. The documentary will be at the Wimberley Village Library on Tuesday, July 5. Healthy Potluck at 6:45 p.m. Film starts at 7 p.m.

VFW Rodeo

This year’s event, the 73rd annual rodeo, will be at Veterans Park in the Chester Franklin Arena on Jacobs Well Road north of Wimberley on July 5 through 7. Gates will open at 5:30 with the first mutton busting at

7. The rodeo begins at 8. Events will include bull riding, tie down calf roping, bareback and saddle bronc riding, steer wrestling, team toping, women’s breakaway roping and women’s barrel racing

Café Suzanna

Café Susanna, a weekly fundraising lunch for the Wimberley Methodist Church, will have Sausage Fetticcine on Thursday, July 5. For $9 you get an entre, side, drink and dessert. The lunch is served on Thursdays from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Big Scoop

The Wimberley Community Center will be the place to cool off while enjoying the Big Scoop Ice Cream Festival on July 7, 1:00 - 7:00 p.m.

Market Days

The first Saturday of every month March through December, thousands of people descend upon Wimberley for the Lions Club’s Market Days. From 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., 475 booths line the oldest outdoor market in the Texas Hill Country.

Holistic Gardening/Korean Natural Farming

Korean Natural Farming takes advantage of indigenous microorganisms to produce fertile soils that yield high output without the use of herbicides or pesticides. The practice has spread to over 30 countries, and when training became available in Hawaii, Stacy Shepard became a serious student. On Wednesday, July 11, 6:30 – 7:45 pm, Stacy will be at the Wimberley Village Library to teach a free class on Korean Natural Farming with a focus on Indigenous Microorganisms. She will explain how to cultivate and educate the native microorganisms on your own land to improve your soil and plant life.

WVAL Members Juried Exhibition

The Wimberley Valley Art League will host a Juried Exhibition at the Wimberley Community Center. The Juror is Margo Handwerker, the Director of Galleries at Texas State University. The opening artists Champagne Reception will be hosted on July 20 at 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Community Center. The art will stay up until September 11.

Wimberley Players Present Little Shop of Horrors

From June 29 – July 22 on Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30 P.M. and Sundays at 2:30 P.M. the Wimberley Players will present Little Shop of Horrors. In addition, there are two Thursday performances on July 12 and 19 at 7:30 P.M. Reserved seating $26; Student tickets $20 with ID. Rebos Fellowship

Rebos Fellowship, (sober spelled backwards) is a new AA fellowship in Wimberley. It is for those who are not drinking or desire to stop drinking. Closed meetings are about one and a half hours long and meet everyday Monday through Sunday at Blue Hole located at 100 Blue Hole ln., in the picnic area across from the Maintenance vehicle look for the sign on the right. Wimberley Area Cancer Support Group

The Cancer Support Group meets on the second Wednesday of every month in the Wimberley Visitors Center board room, 11:30-1:00, brown bag lunch. If you have cancer now or experienced it in the past, grab your lunch and join us for a relaxing time with others who share your journey. All Abilities Chair Exercises

Every Tuesday and Thursday, 9:30 – 10:30am at the Wimberley Village Library. Lauren Robins and Carla Daws lead these free classes that include breathing techniques, gentle strengthening exercises, mild yoga stretches and gratitude practice – all from a seated position. Farmers Market

Visit Jacobs Well Natural Area

Open year round - free entrance -swim reservations and swim fees on JW website. May - August: There are no guided tours during the summer but The Jacob’s Well Nature Center is open most Saturdays and Sundays throughout the summer 11-5. Guides are available to talk about the wonders of Jacob’s Well. September - May: Guided Tours are offered at Jacob’s Well 9:00 each Saturday morning except on a holiday.
