Election Results Nov. 6, 2018

As of 11:15 p.m., two precincts in Hays County still have not reported, but it appears the election results have been decided.

Democrat Ruben Becerra’s lead in the race for County Judge over Republican Will Conley seems out of reach.

With the two precincts still remaining to be counted, Becerra received 51.56 percent of the vote compared to 48.44 by Will Conley. Overall, Becerra received 39,211 votes compared to Conley’s 36,842.

The race for State Representative appears to have gone to the Democrats also. When combining totals from Hays and Blanco County, Erin Zwiener outpaced Ken Strange with Hays County going heavily for Zwiener (53.36 percent) and Blanco County going for Strange (74.53 percent). Due to Hays County’s larger population, Zwiener’s lead is about 1,500 votes.

Republicans got a local victory in the race for Hays County Commissioner, but the totals are incredibly close. Lon Shell received 10,048 votes to Jimmy Alan Hall’s 10,003 votes. The percentages were 50.11 percent for Shell and 49.89 percent for Hall.

In local races, voters elected Lori Olson to Place 1 on the Wimberley ISD Board of Trustees with 59.56 percent of the vote to Mark Bursiel’s 40.44 percent. For Place 2, Traci Maxwell received 58.78 percent of the vote to Jeff McDorman’s 41.22 percent. For Place 3, Rob Campbell received 58.09 percent of the vote compared to Bex Hale’s 43.91 percent.

For the Woodcreek City Council race, the top three candidates receiving votes are elected. Aurora LeBrun was to top candidate receiving votes with 22.80 percent. There was a tie for second and third place, both of which should be elected to the council, with Nance Britner and Cyndi Jackson receiving 19.81 percent of the vote. Jeff Rasco received 19.21 percent and Terry Eldridge received 18.37 percent of the vote.
