ELECTION RESULTS

The Wimberley Independent School District will have one new board of trustee while the city of Woodcreek elected a new mayor and two new council members.

Will Conley won the only contested race for WISD Place 4. He received 2,510 votes, 65 percent, compared to Suzanne White’s 1,370 votes, 35.31 percent. Joe Malone, who ran unopposed, received 2,754 votes.

“I hope to continue to make incremental improvements on an already great school district and system,” Conley said. “Overall we have a great staff and good programs, and I just want to build on that success, learn from my colleagues and from our staff and do a lot of assessment and listening to see where we may be able to make improvements to be even better than what we are.”

A new mayor was elected in Woodcreek. Gloria Whitehead ran unopposed for mayor and received 386 votes.

“I think the number one goal is just to bring the council and citizens back to a place where we are working together, and we are accomplishing the goals of the city,” Whitehead said. “We want to work to reach a consensus on the most important issues, and we are very happy to get started and begin the work.”

The top two council candidates won the election. Former Councilmember Brent Pulley received the most votes with 347.

“The main goals are to try and work on the development and the traffic issues that are facing us. The basics, that is it,” Pulley said. “No more fighting. It is time to take care of business. I hope we can all work together going forward.”

Charles LeCompte received the second most votes with 285 compared to Chrys Grummert’s 185.

“I am going to be trying to find common ground with everyone to get things done that need to be done from a priority standpoint for the community,” Le-Compte said. “There have been some issues in the past that haven’t been very good and hopefully we will be able to put all of that aside and move in the right direction. I want to focus on traffic and speed on the streets. I definitely want to see if we can get something finalized and redone from a standpoint of the tree ordinance and try and establish some better relationship with our franchisees.”

According to Hays County, 18,909 of the 139,722 registered voters in county voted in Tuesday’s election. Results are unofficial until they have been canvassed.
