Dylan Meek returns home for solo concert

Wimberley-raised Dylan Meek is coming home to perform a special solo concert this month.

The event is scheduled to take place Friday, Sept. 15, in the main sanctuary of the Wimberley United Methodist Church. The doors open at 7 p.m. for the 7:30 p.m. concert.

Meek, who now resides in Los Angeles, said he wanted to put together a show for his friends and family back home.

“It is important to me to return to my hometown of Wimberley to play for the community I grew up being a part of,” Meek said.

After a lifetime’s worth of collaboration with many legends, Meek pivoted to focusing on writing and performing his own original songs, growing a faithful fan base in LA with his band. In 2022, he released his first self-produced and engineered original solo record, “All I Need,” now out on all platforms.

After leaving Wimberley at 18, the now 32-year-old completed a bachelor’s degree from the New School of Jazz and Contemporary Music in New York City. He has since played extensively on the jazz scene in NYC and LA; collaborated with Questlove and several of “The Roots” crew members; recorded piano/keys on Mike Judge’s “Tales From The Tour Bus” TV show; was Grammy nominated for the song “Invincible” for the Spider-Verse soundtrack; toured with Imagine Dragons; and played on Seth Myers, Good Morning America and twice on both James Cordan and The Fallon Show. He has recorded with his brother Buck Meek, The Marias, Dashboard Confessional, The Wanted, Diplo and Darkchild and has performed with Jolie Holland, Post Malone, Quavo, Metro Boomin, Grant AME Gospel Choir, Tom Odell, Theo Katzman, The Duke Ellington Orchestra, Brian Mcknight Jr, Kelsey Wilson (Sir Woman) and many NYC legendary jazz musicians, including mentor Jimmy Neeley.

Concert tickets will be available at the door with a $20 donation for adults. College students and children under 18 are free. Cash, card, check, Zelle or Venmo will be accepted. Early arrival is encouraged for best seating as Meek’s past Wimberley concerts have had large turn-outs.
