COVID-19 cases lower but still steady

There are now 3,979 total confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Hays County with 3,080 of them active, according to the Hays County Local Health Department. That is 336 new cases in the last week averaging 48 per day. Of those, there have been 66 total cases in the Wimberley Valley and 46 are considered active. Only one of those cases is within the city limits of Woodcreek. That is 8 new cases in the last week.

There have been 17 deaths related to COVID-19 in Hays County. Of the 84 local residents that have been hospitalized, 23 are still currently in the hospital.

Some patients are in hospitals outside Hays County but are included in our numbers if they reside here. Likewise, an individual from another county who is in a local hospital would be accounted for in their county of residence.

“Continuing to mask up, wash hands and limit unnecessary trips can have an impact on slowing the spread of the virus,” Epidemiologist Eric Schneider said. “However, COVID-19 is still active in our county so we need to continue to protect each other.”

The number of individuals considered recovered is 882. The number of negative tests is 12,145.
