Christmas at Buck Winn Historical Ranch

Last Year, the Four Winns Ranch was designated on the National Register of Historic Places by the U.S. Department of the Interior. Winn was a nationally known artist and inventor with his works on exhibit throughout valley and the area.

The murals that hang on the walls at the Wimberley Community Center are parts of a larger mural entitled “A History of Ranching,” which was commissioned by the Pearl Brewery and finished in 1951. When finished the mural was 200 ft. by 6 ft.

Pearl redecorated their brewery and divided the mural into pieces. Sections of mural are at the Community Center and at Texas State. But being a renowned painter was not his only talent.

Inventor, pilot, UT professor, architect, and the list goes on and on. The beautiful house and grounds, designed by Winn, features a curved glass wall, a mural in the kitchen area, a beautiful view overlooking what was once Winn’s airplane landing strip, and other unique architectural features such as a window sculpture, and a floor of his patented tile made out of local juniper trees.

His talents are still visible at the house and grounds, which will be decorated for Christmas and open to the public on December 14 from 2 until 4 p.m.

The tour of the grounds and house will be led by Winn’s daughter, “Tinka” Eoff, where visitors can see his workshop, a mold of an Egyptian Pharaoh on the grounds, and in his studio, his work desk, almost untouched with his always present pipe holder, along with sketches of his works.

This National Register Historic Place is located off of County Road 1492, south on Winn Valley Drive and turn right at the entrance to the Eoff Ranch. Follow the road until arrival at the ranch. There will be refreshments served.
