Chapel of the Hills Coat Giveaway is just in time
The real cold weather that we had last week brought ice cold sobering thoughts to Wimberley and the area. It was easy not to think about it in 98-degree weather. Now that it gets cold, what if you didn’t have a coat to wear during the next few months? Chapel of the Hills sees that need and their timing is almost perfect.
Much of last year’s donations were stored in bags as not many people claimed coats. “We much take what you want. We have plenty to give away, clothing and coats. There is no vetting whatsoever. We do coats, clothing, hats, scarves, gloves, shoes, socks, blankets, anything that will keep anyone,” Louise Faulkner, President of the Women’s Guild said.
Donations came from all over from church members and community members. Hill Country Consignment has also donated lots of clothing. ”We only had about 50 people last year due to the weather. We’ll have a sign out front to tell people to come Saturday,” Faulkner said.
This is a busy time of year, as the Chapel of the Hills will hold their Holiday Bazaar next Saturday, November 16, from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. It always has a dazzling array of Christmas tree ornaments and other decorations.
“We have Christmas wreaths, ornaments, candles, candlesticks, Christmas linens, crystal, centerpieces of all kinds, and real hard to find Christmas stuffed animals.” She continued.
“Everything we sell are donations from the community. For that reason we sell at one third to one quarter of a retail price with the church there is no tax,” she said. Decorations also go to everybody on Meals on Wheels and gift cards to them will be available for a donation.
“Also available will be “boatload” of baked goods. If you need it for Thanksgiving, buy it and freeze it,” Faulkner said. The proceeds will help with repairs of the 1961 built church.

The Holiday Bazaar will happen Saturday November 16 from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m.
